Does this game support xbone controllers (wireless adapter). Partial controller support doesn't tell me much

unfortunately, no. It needs to be connected via wire.

Yes, wired or wireless works just fine. The buttons are hard-mapped to A B and Y and uses the analog stick for movement. Buttons cannot be changed, as far as I'm aware. The on-screen prompts will only refer to the keyboard keys, though (this doesn't cause a problem as long as you remember that Z is A).

Also I might be wrong but you still need to use the keyboard for exiting the game and for a specific battle that has you type out words (thus the reason for "partial" controller support).

Wireless works fine. Have been playing with the wireless adapter on Windows 10 myself.
