How do you save and quit in Undertale???

I accidentaly closed the game right after saving, and when I opened it up again, it started from the beggining...is there any way to save your progress?

Well it should save by simply using the save spot (yellow star-like thing).

Save: The star that fills your whatever.

Quit: Pressing Escape key.

Yes, when you see a little yellow star, you have to complete the dialogue that fills you with determination or tells you how many are still in your way before you can select to save your progress. After you successfully save, you are free to quit whenever you wish by holding the escape key until the window disappears.

I have, but I find it weird because I did save at the yello star right? Then you just press escape, but for some reason when I opened it up agaiin, it asked me to name the fallen human. AKA it started me from the very beggining. Could've just been that I did something wrong or something glitched.
