Theory Time! (Papyrus and the Starman)

When I was going through the game I reached the part where you fight papyrus and when I was fighting him, I noticed the symbol on his armor, I thought for a while on what the symbol because it was so familiar. Then it hit me. That symbol is the same symbol that the starmen have in Earthbound. The similarity lead me to think that maybe, just maybe, the games take place in the same universe. Now, I know these are two different games made by different people, but it's just odd. Think about it Sans said that they made the armor for a costume party, so papyrus can't be a dead Starman. So maybe a Starman fell into the Underground and died, Where Sans and Papyrus found some of the body and made into a costume. A little side note is that Earthbound takes place in 199X and Undertale takes place in 201X. What do you guys think about this? This is not meant to be taken seriously. It's just a little theory.
