Genocide Run, Stuck in Hotlands+Core

So I've ran through Muffet and am at the door right before you get to Mettaton. I've got 7 monsters left to fight but I can't find any. I've been walking for half an hour and I've gotten no encounters. I have found the scripted enemies in the core and that got me from 15 to 7, is there another scripted event I'm forgetting?

Try searching for the last monsters on the bridge just outside the Mettaton Ex room.

Go back to hotlands and keep farming

Where to farm: the area after Alphys' lab, and the bridge before Mettaton. Don't switch rooms.

I'm having the same issue, however I accidentely killed Mettaton Neo. Now I can't get any encounters.

You have to kill 40 monsters before Mettaton. You know that bridge before the funky door and the elevator next to a save point before the Mettaton fight? Walk across it until you encounter a monster. It's a good spot to grind.

Play windowed. Change windows while you're actively walking. The game will keep you in a walk cycle in the background, you won't actually be moving but you'll still be triggering random rolls for encounters.

Because it's in the background, you can go do something else without interacting with the game.

Well, Mettaton's genocide variant suffix is "NEO", and neutral/pacifist is "EX" so...

Or you can use a webpage named "Flowey's Time Machine" and fix it

I can't find the 5 enemy's i have looked everywhere mettatton is still alive i haven't killed him yet i haven't check the core

I killed Mettatton NEO when it said DETERMINATION but then once I killed Mettatton NEO it said 40 left. Once I got to New Home Flowey didn't tell me the story. What happened?

At this point just download a save file just before Mettaton Neo and copy over your inventory and name.
