Did I remove my genocide consequences?
I decided to do a genocide run after a ton of hesitation. I knew the consequences going in, but I heard you could remove them by deleting your files in the %appdata%. However, now I've seen some people say it doesn't work. I deleted my files and started a 2nd run. I don't see the 963 file anywhere. Am I safe?

If you do not see the System 962 and 963 files, you should be good, but I've been told that even if you delete these files you may experience post-genocide run dialogues with certain characters. Just be prepared either way.

Just play it. And see the results.

Right click the file system_information_962 or system_information_963, depending on if you are on post-genocide black screen, or post-genocide post-soul-sold.

Go into properties, then security. Remove [Your username] and [administrators] rights to READ the file. Click apply.

When you next start up the game, it will be as if you had never done a genocide run ever before.

You're not trying to help someone weasle out of a deal are you? This contract is binding, very very binding.

It's only binding until you have the DETERMINATION to break the contract. :flowey:

I finished my run No post genocide affects. Didn't have to turn off steam cloud or anything. Deleting the file works. I recovered my soul with DETERMINATION!

Ah. More people trying to skirt the reprocussions of a full genocide run. Its amusing to watch really. Even if it does kind of upset me a little bit - out of game file tinkering feels like missing the point of the game to me. But it feels very human to want to find a way out of doing something bad, to get away with it huh? Yup. Very human.

"I didn't do the genocide runthrough, I just watched it on Youtube!"

"I tinkered with the game files so the game doesn't remember what I did, so it never happened!"

Hell, even I did an almost complete genocide run, because I wanted to have a Bad Time. I did, and then I reset. I might not have hit the part where I was forced to do a faustian bargin to keep playing, but I still killed every one just before that point and I am not ashamed to admit it...hell I put it on youtube proudly!

Yeah, very human.
I finished the game at genocide recently and I refuse to do such a thing as
deleting my files to act like nothing happen... but... I can't accept to give my soul. This is a little childish, I know, this is just a game but... I can't accept to do that.

I already had see the others end so, I finished the game anyways.
So ... I accept the consequences.
I accept the darkness.
I accept the emptyness.
I accept to be alone.
Because I got my memories...
and my SOUL.

Good... at least you have the decency to accept your sins. Unlike some people. )

Deep paragraph snipped here

My hat's off to you sir and/or madam (I don't judge). The reason you're stuck in the blackness is the same reason I never went off into that deep end myself - I don't much fancy making a faustian bargin with Toby's little boogey man just so I can keep playing the game, even if it didn't contaminate future pacifist runs. Which it does, so double screw that.
