What is the last possible moment in which you can abort a Genocide run?
I'm doing a Genocide run, but I don't really want to complete it since it'll pretty much screws over any and all pacifist ending after a Geno run is completed once (implying I will play the game again after that to get the pacifist ending... again).

I plan to quit the run some time but I'd like to also see as much as possible before stopping, so it'd be really really helpful if any of you knows when is the very last moment where you can abandon the run without making a permanent impact to the game.

Mettatton. Don't hit him directly.

Just before Asgore. Get to him then reset. You'll experience the majority of the Genocide content without the ending breaker kicking in.

I reset after beating The Bad Time. Only consequence is that Flowey seemed mighty annoyed with me I pulled out at the last second. Literally has not shown up since he first chastised me, except for his blink and you'll miss it see him following you as you backtrack moments.

If you want to avoid corrupting your true pacifist ending quit the run after sans

as long as you reset the game before going to see the king and selling your soul, you'll still be able to abort (as far as i know )

Actually you have to quit after fighting the bad time. Further than that will taint your save, from what I gather here.

Tainted...
Well...
Let say... that after that, all pacifist run will... be less happy at the end.
And that, forever except if you play with the files. I think you can close the game
after the flowey part and you will be fine.
(a little after the king part. I can't say more or I will be spoiling.)

Oh and good luck with the bad time.
AHAHAHAHHA

There must be something more to this, cause I keep hitting him at the first possible place to hit him, completely at the left of the gauge, but he doesn't comment on me holding back, he just says his usual line as if I hit him spot on.

Eh, it's okay. If he says you don't want to join his fan club, you're ready for a certain spoopy skeleton. After defeating that certain spoopy skeleton, well you can either meet the king... or reset.

I already dabbled with the spoopy skeletman and had many bad times already but still trying to do a Genocide and halting it at the last possible moment, yeeeet it's not working, Guessing you must NOT genocide all monsters in Hotlands/Core. :F

It only counts as "holding back" if you do anything other than attack, or if you miss. If you BARELy hit him, it still counts.

But what about after you beat Sans and save at the throne room checkpoint? Couldn't you just reset from that point?

You can do that, yes. Providing you don't crash the game by finishing Chara's dialogue.
Have you ever heard of "fixing undertale?" You can find a tutoriel on youtube, and if you follow it, you can reset the game after you complete a genocide. Theres litteraly no point in doing genocide if you don't finish.
