Chara possess you more and more with every little bit of XP and LOVE that you gain. At level 20, you're litterally allowed several more steps before it's :gameover: forever.

Chara only appears in genocide route, because your determination and LOVE from murdering everything brought them back to life.
Contains MASSIVE multi run spoilers
When Chara died Asriel absorbed her soul and gained the ability to cross the barrier. Chara in control of Asriel (their souls shared a body) took Chara's body, and crossed the barrior to return to Chara village. She then tried to kill all the villagers but Asriel managed to stop her, back in control he returned with chara's body to the underground castle where he collapsed and died. Chara's body was placed in a casket near the throne room, and Asriel turned to ash and spear across the throne room (A flower from here was injected with determination by Alphys which caused Flowey).

The kings plan to break the barrior by capturing 7 human souls disgusted Toriel, so she took Chara's body and left for the ruins to both bury her and protect any future humans.

Frisk more or less fell ontop of chara's grave, and as the player kills more and more monsters chara's evil spirit begins to take over the character. You're more or less absorbing her soul which exists in the monsters as hope. Even though she was evil and kiled huting people and things, everyone saw her mere presence as a great boon for everyone.

Determination isint bad. Love and EXP are. Deternimation is just the force powerful humans (and sometimes monsters [Undyne]) have.

I never said it was bad, but your determination to murder still contributed to their return.

I think there's a lot more to it than that.

Seems strange you would wake up on top of Chara's dead body with an old and used-many-times mummy bandage (or gross bandage, as described by Papyrus) wrapped around some area of your body as armor when you start the game.

This game is great. You dont get story discussion like this with Call of Duty.
It's possible Frisk may be a reincarnation of Chara created by Flowey/Asriel so he can "play" with him for all eternity in an endless loop of resets. Asriel refering to him as Frisk or having Chara take back control is more of a statement on moral choice. Does he accept this new outlook or fall back to his evil ways from a previous life?

My question is how Chara's shirt would turn from green and yellow to blue and purple.

Also, why didn't Chara possess the other six humans?

It's possible the green and yellow shirt is possibly a memory borrowed from Asriel, who also wore a green and yellow shirt.

And Chara has the power to destroy entire timelines with a sweep of their hand and completely recreate them at will, what could 6 human souls offer that is more powerful than that?

That's all gained through the players interactions tho. She doesnt just have them, you get them for her.

Yeah, but when you have the power to create and destroy entire universes/timelines at will, what could possibly match that or be greater?

For Chara, they have everything they could want: Power.

You don't get that power from Chara. You have that power regardless. Frisk doesn't actually gain a thing from becoming Chara, because they already had the power to destroy all of Underground.

It's Chara that gains power by taking over Frisk.

Exactly. Time has passed since Chara and Asrial died. 5 or 6 (if they got charas soul which i doubt) more humans have come and gone and neither chara or Flowey was able to do anything.

The only reason they are able to obtain that power is because Frisk was in some way unique and compatable with Chara in a way no previous human was.

If its not on Frisk and they had the power all along, why wait?
