Does hitting fight, but letting the timer run out without doing damage, count against a pacifist run?

That's pretty much the whole question. If I accidentally hit "fight" but don't attack or cause any damage, can I still get a pacifist run ending? I do it all the time by mistake haha

You can fight and even do damage to them, as long as you don't kill the enemy you'll be fine.

Some enemies will turn yellow after you do a certain amount of damage to them, so it's just another method of sparing!

Missing on purpose is the same as sparing a non-yellow enemy.

A good way to check if you're on track is to go into your character menu to see if you have any EXP. If you have EXP, you've failed your run, simple as that. I think that's the only thing that can totally invalidate a run...
