How do you "properly" Spare Whimsum?

Whimsum runs away no matter what right? Sparing at the start of the battle isn't proper.. Is there some combination of Terrorizing and Consoling that I'm missing? Do I need to just check her a few dozen turns?

I'm asking because I somehow missed Froggit and Whimsum in my last Pacifist run in the credits (and got every other enemy yellow). Froggit should be easy (although if someone knows the exact way for a fact I would appreciate them mentioning it). I'm asking because I'm going for a completionist Pacifist run next to see if anything changes. My goal is to get as much gold as possible.

I think if you spare enemies "better" you get more gold. Just doing one option, then sparing seems to give less. Some enemies can be spared but will give 0 gold. Giving Temmie Temmie Flakes (in battle) gives like 90 gold when sparing. I do need to test this for other monsters to be certain though.

I'm talking about in the credits how you can make the enemy descriptions yellow. My last run I spared him directly, tried Consoling, and I think I tried Terrorizing.

Yeah, I've been wondering this too. I saw people with Whimsuns name yellow at the end but they didn't know what they did.

I think there may be a special encounter that spares her akin to Aaron, but I don't want to reset a bunch to test it. I want as clean a True Reset True Ending run as possible.

I know for a fact I tried consoling her. I may have ending up resetting after trying other options, but I consoled her everytime I found her after that. Furthermore I don't think any enemies counts if they run. Aaron is an exception since he runs in a cutscene.

Well this is a little off topic, but I've made enough topics recently. Anyway I have the theory about getting gold when you solve fights. Doing better things, or the correct things maybe gives you more gold after sparing. It needs testing more, but from my memory theres definitely a pattern. Only problem is the christmas tree deer monster. He gives you no gold (You even lose gold) and I think the "yellow credits text" comes from giving him a gift. Perhaps theres a better ending for this guy.

If you go back after the friending Papyrus the deer says theres a tradition based on his bad experience and he is clearly unhappy about it. Post True End he doesn't want to go to the surface, somewhere its mentioned that you should give him a gift but that gift should be gold because you don't know what else to give. (I think Sans was there and said that.. Can't remember but isn't Sans near the snowman area as well? I'm really not sure about this..)

Anyways this implies that either you need to give him a better gift, OR you need to decorate him to go with the tradition so that maybe he feels better about what happened.

I undecorate three times, and give him 35 gold as a present. I even spam gift a few times but it won't let me give more. I'm fairy certain I got 0 gold for sparing.

This further supports the idea that undecorating him 3 times isn't the ending for him to me. Maybe if you redecorate him fully, and undecorate fully, over and over or something..
Edit: I mean undecorate fully, then redecorate fully.. If you redecorate him once when he is undecorated he says "I was finally starting to trust you" and will decline your gift.
Edit two: This could be a hint towards the Undyne bad end where you kill everything after you friend her and she breaks down in the ending.

Well back on topic. Does anyone know or have any ideas regarding Whimsum? I'm kind've holding off on my third Pacifist run until then. I guess I'll just have to go for it and hope I get Whimsum.

I got yellow text just from repeatedly trying to console them. The yellow text in the ending said something to the effect of "slowly gaining confidence".

I think I got it. I think you can never Terrify or Terrorize Froggit and Whimsum. But I'm not 100% certain.

I did a second pacifist run and got all the Yellow names.

For Whimsun, do one fight where you terrorize and then console him, then do a seperate fight where you just console him. I missed the yellow name the first time because i just spared all the enemies in the ruins right off the bat.
Froggit just requires a compliment and then spare as far as i know.

As for the Reindeer, Gyftrot: You have to fully undecorate, and then spare. Giving him a gift will mess it up. Just don't give Gyftrot a gift and everything will be fine.

Honestly the one i find easiest to mess up is Temmie's. You only fight Temmie once and if you flex, she dies and ruins your chance of getting the yellow text for her.
