So.. You can't use "Gaster" as Player name. Right?

Yeah...
The game Just Vanish after trying to input "Gaster" as player name...

But did anybody tried editing the file and gettting the name to be "Gaster"?


Right now I'm Trying this.

My previous run was


pacifist -> normal -> genocide -> Selled my soul -> pacifist

and I start another new true reset that apparently do notting I guess?

starting with the name "Caster" and used some Hex editor

to changed the player name to "Gaster"

modifed files are "file0" "file9" and "undertale.ini"

So it did change. but now I do not know what will happen.

It could just be normal

Well, if you were expecting NPCs to call you Gaster, or whatever you choose as a name they probably won't...since you're not naming the player character.

I've already done a True Pacifist playthrough like this. Nothing changed, as far as I can tell.

Lategame I was called Gaster, but this did not seem to affect anything. I didn't skip dialogue to see if there would be a difference.

What I've been curious about is using the name Chara, though from what I saw from a stream yesterday, that doesn't change anything either?

Everything else just gives you snide comments.

Chara isn't ACTUALLY the name of the character in question. It's just fancanon that has been so prevalent that people forget it's not actually the character's name.

It's a joke about how it's the placeholder name the game slots in if you teleport past character creation so that the game doesn't crash with a null string pointer. It's not actually the name of the unnamable evil.

Well I didn't have the Jerry name. Just said I heard it makes things different. But alright.
