Muffet Side View?
So I'm making some 3d models, and while Sans/Papyrus are really easy to do, with Undyne and the others being a bit more difficult but having at least enough material to get an idea as to what they should look like, IE a sideview sprite, Muffet lacks one.

So, What would Muffet look like from the side/back do you think? IE, would she have a thorax or not? Can't even find any decent fan art to help with this conundrum either.

Eh, you could still hide a thorax behind her in that picture. If you don't know what a thorax is, its that big bulb butt some spiders have. Its also where the Spinerettes are, the things that make webbing. I'm just trying to figure out if Muffet has a small thorax, or if she is humanoid and thus her spinerettes aren't shown outside her cloths / She has some kind of 'tail' sticking out which is her spinerettes.

I'm alright with that, although that makes her hips REALLY big with teeny tiny legs, at least poportion wise. I just want a say one way or another or overwhelming evidance one way or another. lol.

Shes got Midna poportions, which just feels weird to model. Except her legs are thin halfway down the femur, Midna at least keeps them thick til the kneecap...

Good luck.

Eh, til I get this sorted out I'll prob make Papyrus/sans first, they're at least easy and have enough material to do stuff with.

She's wearing puffy bloomer shorts, so that's not necessarily how big her hips/thighs are.

I think her bloomers kinda represent her thorax design-wise, but she doesn't actually have one. She creates her web on you with her beverage, not coming from any known thorax so she may be able to weave webs via magic and not biologically.

Besides, she's not anatomically correct for a spider anthropomorph in the first place (Spiders have 8 eyes, Muffet has 5) so the lack of thorax is a possibility.

Ah, I like that explination. Works for me.

Pretty sure they need an anchor point though, don't they? Admittednly I know very little on how bloomers fit on people. Do they have straps like overalls or is the belt just tied right under her torso?

I think it's the dress that's oversized to make it do so. I think she just doesn't have one, and we'll probably never know.

On a normal human body, bloomers have an elastic or drawstring waist and gathered or elasticized leg openings. Imagine a really really really big pair of pants that are scrunched up at all openings until they fit your body. The extra fabric bunches up and puffs out where it's not gathered.

Looking at her sprite here: http://undertale.wikia.com/wiki/Muffet?file=Muffet.gif it kind of looks like the waist would be somewhere around her second pair of arms, under the blouse/cape/top she's wearing. The top of her outfit also has a pretty loose fit, which suggests to me that her "torso" could be not that much wider than her neck is.

If it helps, this is one of her official tweets with an artwork https://twitter.com/avasdemon/status/645039977663987712
still from the front though.
Archmage MC Oct 12, 2015 @ 1:36pm
Oh that and the sprite are what I'm using for her front view stuff. I'm good with that. I'm just trying to figure out her depth. Web spitting teapot works for me. But man she has a twig body. its about 3x the size of her neck, which isn't very big. lol
