It's really easy to get spoiled, so, actually most people wish they knew less when they started.
The less you know, before playing it, the better.
The game can play a lot different, btw, depending on how closely you pay attention & follow directions & who you decide to listen to / obey & who you decide to ignore.
It's hard to get the full experience if you actually listen to what the characters have to say & make a reasonable & accurate assessment about whether they are worth listening to or not ...but that's in part because this game treats you the way that you treat it.
