Tem Shop Is a Ripoff
"But why?" you might be asking yourself. Because one of the items is Tem Pay 4 Colleg. This costs 1000g. And if you start from 0g and farm money their or sell a bunch of items it's possible to get enough g to pay for Tem pay 4 colleg. But how? Obviously if Tem had enough money to pay for college they would go. Right? Maybe Tem is a liar. Maybe it's video game logic that shopkeepers have to always give you money when you sell them stuff. Maybe it's just a mistake made by Toby Fox. Who knows. Just don't take this discussion too seriously. It's just for dumb fun.

Tems are either very cheap or very stupid, maybe both. Either way, they're the ones pretty much paying for their own tuition so...

But if tem can't count then how can they count your money when you pay for their college.

I mean, here's the thing - if you start farming gold when you have 350 G (for example), then you only need 650 G to send Temmie to college, which means they only need to buy 650 G worth of stuff off you.

And for all we know, that 650 G is all the money they have before going to college and getting a degree.

(Before you bring it up - no, I don't think it's very likely that anybody will ever have exactly 0 G, particularly if they're using Cloudy Glasses to farm for gold.)

Yes, but still if you start at 0g you can still get the amount of G needed to send Tem to College

Tem is an easteregg who's susposed to be sily. However, there are legends that say the Tems have a magical bag made of Dog Residue which converts items into Gold. They know that the players think they're giving away money but the Tems are smarter than that. They have all deceived you with their advanced buisness techniques. Kappa

Shopkeepers earn their money by selling their products a little higher than what they payed for them. The money you give them is laregly spent going back into restocking their shop of the items you purchased from them. Very little of that actually goes to them hence you donating money for tem to go to college.

ITs not video game logic, its economics.

Oh. I guess you could do that. Or you can manually dodge enemies(become everyone's ♥♥♥♥♥) until you can pay for the colleg.

Lets get some math in here to demonstrate.

Lets say Tem flakes is the only thing temmie could sell hypothetically. They cost 4$ to buy. Tem sells them at $5 so he/she can make a 1$ profit. So lets say a human came in and bought 100 Tem flakes. This means that the human payed 500$ and $400 of that goes back to restocking the goods Tem sold. This nets temmie a $100 gain for every 100 tem flakes sold. Now if you factor in taxes and maintenance and upkeep of the facility which temmie is selling stuff, temmie would probably end up with $20 to $30 left to spare on whatever she would like.

Even then thats not done, because temmie needs to pay for her food and drink, which leaves temmie with $1 to $5. College for temmie seems near impossible hence she wants donations.

When you look at the average tuition cost for College, I don't think Tem's being cheap. A beggar? Definitely, but it's more like a... "HoI scholarship"

Well technically college is a scam, when you see it as you have to pay for an education in something you could just as easily go to a library and read for an incredibly cheaper price.
