Alphys Name?

I know how all the character's names are puns, anagrams, or based off of something but I never knew what Alphys name was supposed to mean. Does anyone know?

You think there would be.... Pretty much every other main character's name has some signifigance. Even with her being part of the main cast of monsters.

Yeah but I thought it would work with how the other names go
Toriel is a pun on tutorial
Sans And Papyrus are named after their fonts
Undyne is a pun of Un-die
Napstablook is commonly seen to be based off of a music sharing website
Muffet is based off the nursey rhyme
Mettaton is seen to be off some greek words with "Metal" and "Automaton"
Dreemur is an anagram for murderer
And all the countless enemiess and NPCs have similar circumstances to this.
It's just Alphys who doesn't fit in...

This just came to me to: it could be AI (artificial intelligence) since lowercase l looks like capital I, and phys means physicist?
