If you fell into Mount Ebott, what would YOU do?
You just encountered the flower, and was saved by Toriel. Knowing humans in your whole life so far, magic possibly being real...and suddenly, a flower tries to kill you, and you're saved by a anthromophorbic goat who's willing to show you around.

What would YOU do, if you were in our protagonist's shoes?

Well, the selfish kid part of me says I would just hang out in the ruins with Toriel and live a peaceful life in a magical world. Or become buds with the Skeleton Brothers, or rivals with Undyne, or geek out with Alphys, maybe insist on that cup of tea with Asgore, and so on.

But what would that do to my family? Those left behind wondering if I was alive or not? I would, of course, try to leave. However, instead of being a dumb little kid, I would be going in as a big dumb adult, so I would talk to Toriel, and ask for her to help me out, rather than getting into a pointless fight.

That said, given the game's lore, when I was forced to fight, I would probably underestimate my freakish human strength and kill someone, at which point I would feel terrible. :(

Also, if I couldn't get Toriel to come with me, I would probably get killed by Undyne or Mettaton, and certainly by Asgore. So, I guess I would end up being a little heart in a jar like the previous six humans.

I'd be so happy, I'd call my family on my phone and tell them where I'd be. AND in the underground, death is stopped by save points like in the game.

Yeah. Meaning when you'll eventually be old and sick, you'll die and then just restart from the last save point, making you forever old.
Or you could reset. And take away everyone's happiness. Stop time forever ;) In any case, your very existence will be the death of time. Enjoy.

Frisk needs a human and a monster soul
I remember an old thread that raises an interesting question.

In the thread, the OP mentions that if you kill Toriel, you watch her soul shatter and disperse. This means you didn't gather it. When you beat Asgore and kill him with the intent of taking his soul, Flowey suddenly appears and shatters it before you have the chance of taking it for yourself. Afterwards, you're given the neutral ending with the phone call, implying you somehow managed to escape the barrier.

So the OP's question was: How did you manage to escape, if you never had the chance to get the monster soul?

There's only 2 possible answers:
1. Frisk is still underground, trapped. Why they didn't answer the phone is open for discussion. Perhaps Frisk lost their phone? Perhaps Frisk is dead or dying, hence why you reload a save or do a restart afterward.

2. Frisk already has a monster soul, namely Asriel's. The only way for Frisk to be able to escape the barrier without Toriel or Asgore's soul is that they must already possess a monster soul.

//Even monster boss's souls can survive for long. But most likely since Flowey or Asriel was experimented on, it's highly possible the soul could last as long as a humans.

Flowey is the result of a flower that had Asriel's dust spread on it, and then given determination in order to live. Asriel's soul would've dispersed seconds after he died returning home. There's no way they had enough time to research the effects of determination to create Flowey before Asriel's soul disappeared.

//It could simply be said that the dust went into the flower. Either way Asriel is apart of the flower, yet we know all monsters souls cannot survive after deaths, unless so seem determination.

I'd follow Toriel, trying my best to not stray far. When in a new place, friends are very valuable and dear to me, especially when the rules of reality have flipped up-side down.

Well
When you finish your adventure
You need to reset
So then he'll remember
And he'll kill you
And you'll die

Why do I need to reset? 'sides, I could kick flowey's ass anyday. And I'm not killing him or anything, just taking him with me.
