WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????????????
But what would that do to my family? Those left behind wondering if I was alive or not? I would, of course, try to leave. However, instead of being a dumb little kid, I would be going in as a big dumb adult, so I would talk to Toriel, and ask for her to help me out, rather than getting into a pointless fight.
That said, given the game's lore, when I was forced to fight, I would probably underestimate my freakish human strength and kill someone, at which point I would feel terrible. :(
Also, if I couldn't get Toriel to come with me, I would probably get killed by Undyne or Mettaton, and certainly by Asgore. So, I guess I would end up being a little heart in a jar like the previous six humans.
Yeah. Meaning when you'll eventually be old and sick, you'll die and then just restart from the last save point, making you forever old.
Or you could reset. And take away everyone's happiness. Stop time forever ;) In any case, your very existence will be the death of time. Enjoy.
In the thread, the OP mentions that if you kill Toriel, you watch her soul shatter and disperse. This means you didn't gather it. When you beat Asgore and kill him with the intent of taking his soul, Flowey suddenly appears and shatters it before you have the chance of taking it for yourself. Afterwards, you're given the neutral ending with the phone call, implying you somehow managed to escape the barrier.
So the OP's question was: How did you manage to escape, if you never had the chance to get the monster soul?
There's only 2 possible answers:
1. Frisk is still underground, trapped. Why they didn't answer the phone is open for discussion. Perhaps Frisk lost their phone? Perhaps Frisk is dead or dying, hence why you reload a save or do a restart afterward.
2. Frisk already has a monster soul, namely Asriel's. The only way for Frisk to be able to escape the barrier without Toriel or Asgore's soul is that they must already possess a monster soul.
>Look around
>realize I just fell in a hole on a mountain called MT. Ebott
>See flowey the sentient flower
>"Howd-"
>SHADDUP
>Dig him up out of ground
>Shove him in my pocket
>He looks at me in confusion
>"Why are you doing this"
>Look him flat in the face
>I'm keeping an eye on you, you little ♥♥♥♥♥♥
When you finish your adventure
You need to reset
So then he'll remember
And he'll kill you
And you'll die
