Monstersona?
Yep... it's actually a thing.
But, why?

I don't get it, either. Undertale has so many different kinds of weird and unique creatures, i don't get how making a Monster OC has anything to do with Undertale.

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised now if we get people pretending to be "monsters born in human bodies". I like all forms of art, even rule 34 stuff but this whole thing is a little too ridicolous.

Unless it's one of the canon species like Boss Monsters, or pretty much any random encounter species, i don't get it.

Could someone enlighten me WTH are you talking about?
Corus Jan 13, 2016 @ 6:29am
It's pretty much what happens in every fandom, basically having some fictional character you identify in. We get fursona with furries, ponysona in MLP and even pokesona with Pokemon. Some people push this to the extreme and it gets ridiculous to say the least.

You mean original species monsters? Like fakemons? As a monster maker (i draw them all the time my own species and styled in franchise world) i don't see what is bad about the idea of making an own species or oc in that given world. The execution and reasoning behind the most is what i think puts most people off. Like all the neon colors etc and other attention seeking elements in their persona.

May i just also adress the design style of the monsters? They are pretty simple. They work well for what they intend to look and are not complicated (with the exception of knight knight.. i don't get that design). Overall they barely use patterns and focus more on the generic monster type of style. First time drawing my own species, it was difficult as heck! So far not too fond of a specific species that i would want to make an oc in that. I know many are making skeleton oc's atm :v. Not too fond of that too.

Not to mention Boss monster oc's?? Its like having a mewtwo oc or an alicorn oc. It shall be looked down upon.

Not gonna get a undertale sona tough. Got my own dragonsona and pokesona.

Reason for most persona's is that it's their fave show atm , mostly have imagined a whole story for their oc already in their world. Next to that the personality mostly strikes with their own and self inserting themselves in the world. Again it all depends on the execution if they will be generally accepted as fun or cute or shoved off as a wannabe. Again altering too much or adding too much will mostly be looked down upon because "they want to be unique" but are seen as tryhards.

On another note, i did try to make monsters a couple of times for the Undertale universe. It's good practice to see if one can get a hold of the general design style.
If you have any critism pls say so!

Well, I want to say that I used to be friend with some furries for a project I have been doing some time ago. For some time the fandom seemed like a nice thing, almost wanted to get into it, but their idea of fursona as their real body they should be born into was mainly what I don't like about the whole furry fandom. I also draw decently myself, but I abandoned the idea of posting some stuff on deviantart, but that's mainly because I have high self criticism. Anyway, I don't know how other fandoms are related, but when people mistake reality with fiction is what really bothers me. Anything else is fine. Yes, porn too.
Nice drawings though. I don't draw much cartoony stuff, but I'm not even good enough to draw realistic pictures, so I end up with a way in the middle. And I draw monsters too, though they are usually anything but cute.
Also do you still accept commissions?

Havinf self criticism is not bad. I learned that it does help you improve but it also hinders you from getting criticism from other people with different views. And that is important to get as well.

While i have a pokesona i am not that for into it that i wished i was born one :/ i use it more as an internet persona to identify myself with. Drawing myself as a digital representation is boring x)

I would be interested to see your style! You could look through my gallery folder of "own designs" for some examples that i make without fandom style. I post most not because i want to use those later on in the animation industry and could use some polishing as well.

Sorry atm i still have 1 art trade waiting, and 2 others waiting where the people already got their payment ready. Not to mention i have to finish an animation project for school in 2 weeks @-@ storyboarding is hell.

I didn't mean to pay for anything, just talking about that thread. Anyway, just asking. Also, my drawings are just a giant pile of sketches of infinite mass, that will probably form a black hole soon.

Lol. I do accept general suggestions. Will be relaxing personal drawings that can distract me from doing homework. Hit me with something!
