What kind of flower is Flowey?

Howdy! Let's go on an adventure to find out what ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flower Flowey is

WHAT WE KNOW:

-They're always described as "golden flowers", but nothing more.
-They have thick, yellow petals.
-They're pretty small.
-They cannot be Buttercups.

Suggestions????? I need theories, people!! Go, go, go!!!!!!!

I just want to throw something out here, although this is a huge stretch.

so you all know of W.D Gaster right? okay great, well what is W.D? likely Wing Ding right? however what if it was Wing Din Gaster creating both the font wing ding and aster. Aster both being a font and a type of flower (Asteraceae to be exact) whats so special about this type, it's very iconic for having yellow petals.

bit of a stretch....but i mean this is Toby Fox that made this game, maybe it's not that far out.....

anyways if this is true it limits the amount of posible flowers to one family of flowers

Yeeaaahhhh uhhhhh i'm veeeery sceptical about the whole "Aster" thing.

One could make the argument that the flowers ingame have five (with the exception of Flowey having six) thick, yellow petals while the aster flower usually has at least a dozen thin petals. However, the aster flower does seem to have the most resemblance to the "golden flower," so who knows really?

Flowey is still the closest to a buttercup compared to other yellow flowers

Compared to some of the other things I've seen, yes, it's really not that bad. But it's doesn't really change the fact that I could have gone without ever seeing it.

It / he can be a buttercups, They aren't just yellow. They could've been white in the underground and Asriel pick a yellow one.
