What kind of flower is Flowey?
May contain mild spoilers!
Howdy! Let's go on an adventure to find out what ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flower Flowey is

WHAT WE KNOW:
-They're always described as "golden flowers", but nothing more.
-They have thick, yellow petals.
-They're pretty small.
-They cannot be Buttercups.

Suggestions????? I need theories, people!! Go, go, go!!!!!!!

I think it's actually mentionned somewhere in the game but I can't remember. Flowey is still his own kind of flower anyway

He's a buttercup.
It's said explicitly.
No way 'round it.

Buttercups and "golden flowers" are two different things in the game. Asriel and Chara accidently put buttercups in Asgore's butterscotch pie. This was before they entered the surface, where Flowey's particular type of flowers exist in Chara's home village. Flowey grew from a flower seed that stuck to Asriel's clothes when he collapsed in the garden.. It is IMPOSSIBLE for Flowey to be a buttercup.

Ah, I see, okay then. You should probably add in that all of the flowers have five petals on them.

Yeh, pretty inconsistent since Flowey is supposed to be that kind of flower.

Maybe it was done on purpose for some reason we're unaware of as of yet(?)

Nah, i think it's just a stylistic choice.

a very small percentage of buttercup have six petals, it's kind of like a four leaf clover thing.

Porbably, but it makes one wonder why Toby never fixed this inconsistency... I'm probably looking too deep into it :P

But it's already been established that Flowey can't be a buttercup though...
