You guy know this "Red" undertale fangame?
Because it makes me sad. This one battle, this one character has so much work and love put into it. The battle is intense and well made, Red is really well drawn and animated... the only bad thing is the diologue ("Im gonna get peeved").



But why it makes me sad?


Simple. One guy made a really detailed character that I actually felt connected to, actually more than with any character is Undertale. In UT you only press a few buttons and are like "Boom, another friend spared". After you beat a enemy it's just like "Ok bye, see you in the True Pacifist ending I guess".

Meanwhile, after you befriend Red it's not yet over. You can spen a little more time with her. Talk with her, share food with her...

She felt more like a "friend" to me than anyone else in Undertale.

It's a shame than in Undertale we have Muffet and Asgore, who both have really cool battles and are well designed, but you actually don't get to know them at all. Heck, we don't actually know anyone in the game at all, we only get puzzles we have to combine to make some sense out of it.


If this character was made before Undertale was relased and actually was in the game, maybe it would inspire Toby to make characters a bit more developed and make more cool battles.

But now we are stuck here, hoping that one day a miracle will happen, and Toby will give us Undertale 2.

Cause my point is - that one fangame is good and honestly I wish it was in game in place of Muffet, So Sorry or Glyde.



Also Asgore has very little character development and it sucks.

Uhm... she was designed to be cute. The creator knew what was good in undertale and clearly added to that in dialogue. He also did an amazing job with the attack patterns, while the genocide version feels a bit too much touhou to me.

Clearly the creator knows a thing or two about game design.

Y'know who else is cute? Alphys. And she's one of the most developed, realistically portrayed and fascinating characters in the game. Don't say Undertale has little to no character development, when you only compare it to minor characters.

Exactly, the UndyneXAlphys arc and the True lab give a lot of developpement on Alphys. I don't know what you're trying to say OP.

I didn't said that (or maybe i did dunno lol I'm half asleep).

Characters in game ARE well written and have a lot of charm. I just honestly think that there's a lot more that could be done.


I still think that Toby did a amazing job, but the fact that one fanmade game that lasts only for like 12 minutes had such a impact ot me kinda got me thinking.

Although I do agree with you that it would've been neat if more fights were like Red in a way that you can sit there after the battle and talk with them and ♥♥♥♥, I'm not really sure why you're using Muffet as an example. There are a lot of characters in this game that are pretty well developed, like Alphys that other people mentioned.
Also, Muffet was actually added into the kickstarter rewards by fans along with Glyde and So Sorry, so that's probably why she doesn't have a lot.

Exactly. I refuse to believe Toby has any plans of expanding this universe, but he HAS been talking about a second game. And we still have quite a few mysteries left. So if we aren't getting a sequel....maybe we'll get a prequel??

If we're getting a prequel, i really want to know more about Sans' and Papyrus' origins. They're both so mysterious, and their backstories are pretty vague, ESPECIALLY Sans. I'd love to hear more about them.

Well Toby's latest twitter posts already hinted at something beginning in 2016. Question remains, what that would be. :flowey:

It sounds like stuff to do with Gaster from the one phrase he gave us on his new game.
