Frisk's sprite is so bad we don't know how old they are

None of the characters ever show romantic interest in Frisk. The date with Papyrus is the only legit date in the game, and he even admits that he doesn't have feelings for them at all.

Plus, most of these monsters have never seen a human before, they don't know what the difference between young and grown humans is.

It's
"suppose to be open to interpretation, to let the player decide what gender he / she is".

Even disregarding that, the sprite is prefectly fine. It doesn't have to be anything fancy.

It clashes with the artstyle. There are better ways to make something gender ambigious. Chara is a good example.
All you have is this emotionless yellow montrosity walking around going -_-.

The sprite isn't that bad though.

That wouldn't be a very good design choice to give to the Protaganist.
And I don't really think it clashes with the art style, at least not enough to be distracting.

Frisk is supposed to be even more ambiguous than Chara. Frisk's yellow skin color fits perfect with the color scheme of the rest of the game, because their race is supposed to be ambiguous, too. The only thing about Frisk that isn't up to interpretation is the fact that they probably have dark-brownish hair.
frisk is actually a tiny old lady
I dunno, I felt that in comparison to the rest of the sprites in the game, Frisks' was kind of underdetailed and bland. I have no problem with wanting to make him/her ambigious, but I feel there could've been better ways to do it, or the prexisting sprite could've just been done better.
