I don't get the appeal of this game?
Heard all the hype, bought it a few days ago, played it for the first time today, the game is boring and holy god the music is annoying (and can't be turned off as far as I could tell). Why all the hype???

Not a troll and I'm not calling anyone out for liking it. I genuinely want to know what the appeal is to so many people?

Have you made it past the ruins? Because in my opinion, it gets much better when you get to Papyrus. Music gets better too.

Everyone has different opinions , some people liked the game some people didn't. Tbh it's not a game that is rich gameplay wise , it's more of a game with a lot of lore. I personally find the OST amazing but again I share different opinions. Although you should finish the game so you can actually say if it's a bad game or not

I have not, when I quit the game I was answering phone calls from that sheep dude (Toriel or something?) while waiting for him to get back.

Well it probably depends on a few things like:

1. How old are you? Did you grow up playing NES and SNES games (esp Earthbound)? If so, there's a lot of nostalgia to be had. This is especially true with the music. If you don't recognize all of the different game soundtracks that he's borrowing from then you're missing out on a lot of fun.

2. Does the game's sense of humor appeal to you? If not, then there's a lot of the appeal gone right there

3. Do you like JRPGs? I'd say the less you like JRPGs, the less you'll like this even though it takes a lot of the things that people don't like about JRPGs and spins them completely on their head.

IDK, there's no game out there for everyone. Look at the hype around Fallout 4 and/or Star Wars Battlefront. Tons of hype for two games that I thought were really disappointing.

1. 32, I got a NES from my parents when I was 8, I never played earthbound or other RPGs since I simply didn't have those games. I only had mario games and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ duckhunt :(

2. What humor? So I guess no, it doesn't.

3. They are ok, I much prefer western rpgs.

I guess I'm just disappointed at not liking it after all the hype, was really excited to finally get to try it today.

You haven't gotten into the good part of the game yet. The first part is supposed to just introduce you to the mechanics while also making fun of the hand-holding many games are doing today (such as the part where she LITERALLY holds your hand through the puzzle instead of letting you solve it). You also realize you're not actually supposed to wait for her? You're supposed to just keep walking. The real game begins after the ruins. I would recommend starting with a pacifist run (as in never killing ANYTHING) if you haven't killed something already.

The first part of the game is not indicative of the rest of it. Keep going until you pass the ruins and then the real game begins.

Yeah, you are still at the beginning of the tutorial. Toriel isn't coming back, so you have to go find them. It gets much better, trust me. And if it doesn't, then it's not for you.
