Crash/Not responding when going Full Screen?
It used to run fine no issue on my PC, but somehow today it just hard freezes on my PC when i press full screen (Alt+Enter or F4). Even trying to use third party tool like Borderless Gaming, game freezes before i could do anything about it. Can play it fine windowed, but its so tiny on my 4K display.

Tried verify files integrity and reinstalling the game didnt help.

Already said that i have tried pressing F4. Tried Alt + Enter too. Basically it works, goes to fullscreen, but it crash/freeze/not responding. Audio are still playing.

Trying to bring up task manager to kill Undertale is impossible too, because screen just froze, cant show other windows. I could get around it because my dual screen setup, so my other screen are still fine to navigate, but my main display freeze because of Undertale.

Some said to turn off dual monitor setup since game maker suck or something, tried it, and now i cant back out from the freeze, and had to force shutdown my computer.

Is it because a lot of people asking about how to 'enable Fullscreen' stuff here? because i noticed that too, but decided to open another discussion because my problem aint exactly not knowing how to enable them, but enabling them cause freezing/not responding. Cant find anybody with the same problem.

Pretty freaking weird that it affect a third party software too (BorderlessGaming), like it was working fine windowed, but as soon as i click on BorderlessGaming app, Undertale freezes . Was hoping someone here had the same problem so i could pinpoint what exactly is the problem as it was not happening before, but i guess not.

I recently did clean install of my graphic driver, and did bios update for my mobo and gpu for ReSize Bar stuff. I guess im not playing the game then, doesnt seem worth it if i have to go back using old drivers.

In case anyone else has this problem and finds this thread, I fixed it by going to the NVIDIA Control Panel --> Set up G-SYNC, then selecting "Enable for full screen mode" rather than the "Enable for windowed and full screen mode" that it was on.

Thanks Kadz, that fixed it!

Thank-you. I thought I was not gonna be able to play it. There is very little info I can find about this problem. You have saved the Undertale experience for me.

You're both welcome! Glad I could help! :)

Hi,

I am having the same issues with Undertale, I opened NVIDIA control panel but I don't have a display or G-SYNC option. I've tried everything and I don't know how to fix it, could you possibly help me? Thankyou

Are you opening the NVidia App by mistake? You should see this on the left:

- Display

  • ...

  • ...

  • Setup Digital Audio

  • Adjust Desktop Size and Position

  • Setup Gsync

  • Setup Multiple Displays
- Video

If the Gsync option is missing the you don't have a GSync compatible monitor.

Thank you for the response. It says 'NVIDIA Control Panel' but it doesn't have the options you mentioned, mine are -

3D Settings (with sub categories)

Developer (with one sub category)

Video (with one sub category)

I checked them all and no mention of G-Sync.

I finished playing the game in the small window in the end, it wasn't so bad once I got used to it. Thank you anyway!

Alright. You're welcome. "Developer" is a strange category, though. That's not usual in the official NVidia Control Panel. You have used the menu at the top to enable Developer settings.

You should definitely have a Display category, though. It has a lot of important settings.

Maybe you have GeForce Experience or NVidia Profile Inspector installed?

I've found the best way is to install the Graphics Drivers without GeForce Experience, then reboot. Then Install the NVidia App Beta, if you still want the GeForce Experience stuff.
