error when opening game

sorry if this isn't where to ask for help, i'm not that good on forums!


hello all, i have a error when i open undertale, the game shows a black screen and all i can hear is some wind sound effects.

what i am guessing happened is the game thinks its pirated, when its not seeing as i payed for it last year!

any help on how to get it to run would be VERY appreciated!

That should happen after completing a genocide route. Chara basically erases the game in the end. After genocide, you have to wait about 10 minutes and they will start talking, offering a trade to bring back the game.

EDIT: If you didn't complete genocide and still got that, I can't help, sorry.

I haven’t even beaten the game once! I got stuck on the undyne fight, no real ending. This is getting annoying, the game that i payed for isnt even booting!

If i cant get it to boot soon, I’m getting a refund, and if steam says no... well, ill quit steam seeing as i dont want to pay for nothing, i want my game!!

Please, whoever is meant to fix this stuff, FIX IT!!!

Have you tried waiting for 10 minutes when booting up the game? Otherwise, If you are willing to delete your save data and restart from beginning. Assuming you are on Windows. You can press Win + R and type %appdata% and run. you might be in Roaming folder so go back to AppData folder and go to \Local\UNDERTALE and you should find Undertale save data there! you can delete save data or Use Flowey's Time Machine to modify the save data. I don't know what else you can do.

small update all, nothing works! i waited, nothing. i reset my save data, nothing. im going to get a refund soon... shame bc undertale was the best, i just cant play it anymore!
