Alphys neither stops you from or helps you to defeat the king, so there is that. She's torn, perhaps.
Such futile feelings.
Hmm yeah op, alphys is pretty complicated. But what if she didnt say it. Asgore would have killed the human for the sake of the underground. And alphys has the guilt then as she send you to die without a fair chance.
Imagine you trying to run past him and realizing you cant cross. Betrayed and lied to. Thats a thought for alphys she cant handle to lie to a kid. And as far as i know all monsters are pretty honorfull with accepting turns and even helping you mostly on how to defeat them.
-papyrus says how to avoid his moves. He tells you beforehand if he will use his special move.
- undyne gives you a spear to defend yourself with, and wants to defeat you honorably, she even goes soft couple of times at the start if you dont avoid the first few hits as she also wants a challenge.
All in all monsters are not the type to backstab you in fights if their enemy (you) are also fair.
This is only broken in genocide at the final boss.
