W.D Ghaster ... What?

I was researching into undertale when i stumbled on a guy named
W.D Gaster
Apperantly he was a scientist that got killed by his invention...?
I thought to my self TRUE LAB FOR SURE
looked around but the only thing that could link to gaster in there is a little crack in the wall that i thought was gasters body - but that was debunked after some research
Any ideas on who the heck this guy is?
EDIT:
He also talks in symbols and was erased from the world?
And sans apperantly remembers him and uses his "GHASTER BLASTER" in the genocide run

His big [known] creation was the core. He didn't have as much to do with the true lab. He did something there, but he didn't have anything to do with Flowey/Amalgamites or extracting/researching determination. At least not according to official knowledge. People do have theories about him building the extractor.

Other than that, just search for fan theories. There are tons of them.
