Does Papyrus actually call you before leaving the garbage dump?
*Pacifist Spoilers*

After you date Alphys and are about to leave the garbage dump, you get an odd call from Papyrus, where he directs you to go to the lab to see Alphys. However, it's implied that this call was a ploy by Flowey to get you to continue with his plan of getting everybody together so he could absorb their souls (the "Howdy!" by Papyrus kinda gives it away.)

My question is, do you think that Papyrus was directed by Flowey to say what he does to you, or instead that Flowey is pretending to be Papyrus when he calls you (since Flowey has proven to be able to copy other people's voices), maybe just to make sure that Papyrus doesn't screw it up for him.

I'd be inclined to think that it's Flowey talking as Papyrus to you, if it wasn't that you can see Papyrus's face visibly change during the course of the call, looking nervous and all. If you couldn't see his face, or if it never changed while he was talking to you, it'd be easier to believe that it's really Flowey talking to you instead of actually Papyrus.

What do you think? :papyrus: or :floweyevil:

It's Papyrus. It's just Flowey told him to do that since he's Papyrus' "friend".

I think it was Flowey faking to be Papyrus, since he's shown he's able to manipulate faces. But...he only has shown it for those that recently perished, so...

It's obviously Papyrus, Papyrus has been shown to be very bad and uncomfortable about lying.

But yeah, Flowey is the one who directed Papyrus to make the phone call, much like how Flowey directed Papyrus to do some other acts that direct the Player towards a Pacifist ending.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the 'Actual Papyrus being controlled friendly persuaded by Flowey to call you' side. Guess that's how that one is.

...though there still is another call in the Pacifist route that still boggles my mind...

The call you get before leaving the True Lab, I mean, I can tell it's Asriel calling you, but how did he get a phone? Is it Flowey impersonating Asriel (oh, the irony)? And why does he sound like Transformed Asriel instead of normal Asriel?

Flowey can jam elevators shut with vines, change the shape of his face, and deactivate the power of the True Lab. Something like a phone call is not out of the question.

Flowey's shown to be able to mimic Toriel's voice.

True, just curious why it just so happens to be Transformed Asriel's voice, especially since he couldn't have gotten to that form yet without absorbing the souls. Just curious why he already had that voice queued up.

At this point of the game, Flowey still either believes or wants to believe that Frisk is Chara. Flowey's totally obsessed with the idea of Chara being around again, so Flowey's really really excited to use the human souls and monster souls to return to his original form.

It's not clear why he'd use the adult Asriel voice rather than the child Asriel voice, but the adult Asriel voice might be similar to the voice or form that Asriel took upon absorbing Chara's soul when they crossed the Barrier together many years ago.

* If a monster defeats a human, they can take its SOUL.
* A monster with a human SOUL...
* A horrible beast with unfathomable power.

* (It’s an illustration of a strange creature...)
* (There’s something very unsettling about this drawing.)

Wow, never had thought of that before! I had always thought before that when he absorbed Chara's soul, he probably would have looked about the same as his first transformed form, so the voice thing would make a lot of sense. I guess the drawing would have been of Asriel's first form also, since nobody would have known to be able to draw his 'God of Hyperdeath' form anyway. Makes a lot more sense that way!

I think that somehow, some sort of power Flowey had but he never used it infiltrating the phone or something... I can't explain Flowey's voice sounding like transformed Asriel's, though.
