In each area BEFORE YOU DEFEAT A MONSTER, you have to kill all random encounters until the "But Nobody Came" comes up and the save points say Determination and ONLY that word.

Hotland and CORE also share the same amount of kills.

It's a very common misconception that you just need to kill everything you come across for it to be considered a Genocide. This is not the case. You have to grind the enemies until you get a message prompting that there's no more.

A) Kill everything in every area until you get an encounter where it says "But nobody came" instead of showing a monster. Yes, that includes the ruins. Encounters become more spaced out as you thin out the number of monsters.

B) Do NOT fight the boss of each area before making sure that all of the monsters in the area are dead. Once you get to Snow area, every save point will say "Determination" without the extra stuff, and it'll also show a red number representing how monsters in the area you have left to kill. If it says anything more than "Determination", then you probably screwed. DON'T save; exit and then find out what you did wrong.

C) When you get to the Snow area, make sure you kill everything you go into town. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to kill all of the monsters before you go into town or your run will be messed up? If someone could verify that, that'd be nice.

You can sleep at the Inn before Papurus and you can still go back and murder everyone
