Undertale

Resetting data (without true reset)
So I've heard that deleting everything in the file for Undertale resets everything. I was wondering if that was true and if it is do I have to also delete the thing that says undertale.ini and to be able to do a true pacifist run do I have to spare flowey in the neutral run because I heard you have to do that so I just wanted to know.

You can't.

Spare me, if you want my advice for your pacifist ending.

Messing with files isn't necessary. :flowey:

Deleting everything in your Undertale folder will completely reset the game to its factory state. It will be as if you've never played it before. The only exception is a specific genocide related file, but if you haven't done genocide yet or you have steam cloud disabled then you won't have to worry about that file.

I don't think you actually have to spare Flowey. Just that if you kill him he won't be around to give you instructions on the True Pacifist route.

Wait so do I delete the thing in the files that says undertale.ini or no

Yes.

Undertale.ini keeps track of what you've done through various playthroughs.
file0 is the save file for your current playthrough.

To completely wipe the game you have to delete everything inside the folder (or just the folder itself, the game creates a new folder when you launch it if there isn't already a folder present).

Alright. Thank you so much! I was wanting to do this for a while because I heard that the ending is a different between genocide, neutral, and pacifist. So do I have to spare :flowey: in neutral mode or no to do the true pacifist ending

I'm pretty sure sparing him isn't required but I'd spare him anyways just to be on the safe side.

I'm not sure why you want to wipe the game though, it's not required for the pacifist ending.

Well I was trying to do the pacifist ending all morning and I heard that once you get to the Asgore fight Toriel is supposed to come in when it starts but it just played the battle like normal. And what's the difference between the pacifist ending and the true pacifist ending. (Sorry I ask a lot of questions.)

It's because you can't get True Pacifist until you've already beaten the game on Neutral.

Get to Asgore without killing anyone, and having dated Undyne and Papyrus already.
Defeat him.
You'll then have to fight another boss right after, defeat that boss.
After that you've beaten the game on a good neutral run (I guess you could call this Pacifist)

Reload your save afterwards, and backtrack to the hotel.

You'll get a call from Undyne asking for a favor.
This favor will eventually lead to some new content, then eventually you'll end up back at Asgore.
Fight him again, this time Toriel intervenes.
Completely different boss fight from either of the previous ones occurs.
Beat this, and you'll have beaten the game on True Pacifist.

Ok so how do you date Undyne because I have already done the date with Papyrus

OK, spoilers may be present obviously. short version is you NEED to have a neutral clear to activate certain events in the TP pathline. You can just reload the cleared Neutral file instead of restarting the game if you meet the conditions.

MISSABLE Things you MUST do to access TP

1]Zero EXP
2]Save Monster Kid OR run when MK is hanging on the ledge. DO NOT attack/enage Undyne.
3]Give Undyne the water during the early Hotlands scene.

If you do those, you CAN eventually get your neutral run into a Pacifist without restarting. flowey (if you spared him) will give you hints on what you need to do. If you spared Flowey and want to figure it out yourself, ignore the rest of this post. Otherwise

TP req's
* = missable. If you mess up, you need to do a new run
*1]Zero EXP
2]"Date" Papyrus (you should have his phone number)
*3]do NOT attack Undyne during the save MK sequence.
*4]Give Undyne Water
5] Date Undyne
6]Clear a neutral run
7] AFTER STEPS 1-6, reload and deliver Undyne's letter. You may need to head to the room between Hotel and Core to flag the event by having Undyne automatically call you
8]After finishing the series of events involving Undyne's Letter, work your way back and you should get a not very subtle hint where to go next. Go there and do the thing that should be done.
9]Revisit Asgore and enjy your TP ending!

Be good, alright.

Would you just ♥♥♥♥ off already? No one is forcing you to be here.

Remember where you fought Mad Dummy? Head up one room, should be a save point and like 5 different paths. Undyne's house is the top-left path.

No thanks, I'm teaching OP the joys of something bizarre called the internet.

You can type a question in there and it answers it instantly!

No need to hassle random people on forum with it!

Crazy, I know!
