Why doesn't Flowey aid Clover in the Asgore battle?

Flowey wants the human souls right? That's the whole reason he does his whole friendly act with Clover with that as the end goal, so, in the Flawed Pacifist route (killing Ceroba) wouldn't it be in his own interest to ensure Clover wins the fight so he can absorb the souls when the fight is over? Isn't that exactly what he does in Undertale OG?

This feels like a giant plot hole and it's really bugging me

also i havent played undertale yellow yet or seen a flawed pacifist route how does it work does it just guarantee clover's death in the battle?

Flowey existing in UTY at all is already a big diversion from canon, as is “I have the boss monster gene”.

I still enjoy the game for what it is, though.

I’m still finishing up my first run through Yellow (Pacifist). I’m on one of the other bosses OP mentioned, and it seems like you’re already locked into pacifist if you get to their fight without killing anyone prior. Killing them must only slightly change the pacifist ending.

Yeh you're put in a dodge box untill you die, with a few undodgeable moves

i consider undertale yellow semi-canon, as in there are some important things that happen in the game's pacifist route that i have as my headcanons. ex: the yellow soul's name is Clover, Clover never killed any monsters, (i think they immediately realize that toriel has empathy, therefore, all monsters must have atleast a little bit of empathy, therefore, they deserve to live) and Clover willingly sacrificed their soul in order to help monsterkind be free.
