ooooor you could have done the pasifist route, would've put Chara to rest, heard that it basically "restores their faith in humanity" or whatever.

Chara is a "scapegoat" literally and metaphorically. In reality, Chara tried to break the barrier at the cost of their own life. They hated humans, yes, but they never seemed to hold anything but respect for monsters. (Given the time-frame, I would go so far to say Chara was sacrifed to monsters- thrown down a hole to appease evil, child eating spirits)
Chara was messed up. Yes. Evil- no. This game is about finding the redeeming qualities in the most flawed characters.

YOU HAVE THE RED SOUL. YOU ARE CHARA. You are Chara's determination to make the underground 'free' and make thing's right, one way or another.
And the only reason they are there at the end is to make you feel a little less responsible for your awful actions.

Is this a satifying ending in your book? A dead end?

Nah. And you're not really sealing them away. Remember how they said you'd move on to the next world? I think it'll be harder without your soul, but not impossible.

They also ask you why you want to return to the old world. It's boring, bla bla bla.
Papa Crust Mar 29, 2016 @ 9:57pm
Not really. If you didn't complete genocide then Chara doesn't get reborn. So there is no threat to the timelines without completing geno.

Genocide IS the best ending

-TRUE PACAFIST does nothing because CHARA can just reset it anytime, when Flowey/Asriel speaks to you at the end, hes speaking to CHARA.
-NORMAL PACAFIST does nothing because CHARA will just wait for another Human with a red soul to fall down.

Now GENOCIDE is different because YOU as FRISK have the choice to keep your soul and STOP the world from being remade if you do FRISK AND CHARA will be trapped in the void left behind.

Near the end when you are talking to Flowey in the run up to the throne room he says people like us wouldnt hesitate to kill each other if they got in our way and they he starts shaking...
But CHARA lets him get away because he DID NOT get in their way however when Flowey kill ASGORE AND SHATTERS HIS SOUL Chara kills him, why? Because chara needed that soul to escape the Underground... Flowey just destroyed the last monster soul in the underground capable of breaking the barrier along with frisks human soul.

CHARA AND FRISK ARE NOW TRAPED IN THE EMPTY VOID THAT WAS ONCE THE UNDERGROUND SEALED IN BY THE BARRIER

This means if you hold onto your soul and refuse to give it up, you have truly sealed Chara away for good, if you sell your soul, this is the worst possible ending because once Frisk frees everyone from the underground in the true pacafist the barrier is gone, Chara just takes controll and KILLS EVERYONE ON THE WHOLE PLANT, not just the underground...

Genocide is the utterly best ending possible, regardless of your feelings for the characters, they are sacraficed for the good of the WORLD not just your selfish desires of a "happy ending".

Nice necro.

And it's not Chara who resets the world. It's you, the player, who resets it. And, just as I said, if you do not do Geno, then Chara doesn't get enough power to destroy a world.
