how the heck do you beat Asgore on Neutral?

Guys... I've been on my first playthrough for almost 5 months now and I just can't beat Asgore no matter how hard I try. I've got the locket equipped and I have the knife equipped. I tried to watch someone else fight him in Neutral mode and they said if you talk to him 3 times before fighting it lowers his attack and defense, but when I talk to him I only tell him how many times he's killed me and then it goes to "there was nothing to say".

The person i was watching also had the Butterscotch pie that lowered his Attack and defense but I don't know if he's been saving that since the beginning of the game because otherwise I have no idea how to get it at all.

I always get Asgore to about half health before I run out of junk food and die. Everyone else seems to have beaten this game multiple times and I'm so demotivated.

Is there anything I can do at all?

But seriously though, just keep trying,and try to memorise his attacks. That helped me when I faced him. Good luck!

His attack and defense would be lowered after talking to him three times, but you killed someone.

There's only one butterscotch pie, and that's from the beginning.

You only have two options:

1. Get better

2. Reset

you cannont spare him by talking to him you have to kill him and the you will be given the option to spare him or not (not that it makes a difference

I got him LV1 with the Stick and the Locket firsty try.

Sleep in the Snowed Inn (Long ways away) or the MTT Hotel (Expensive) to boost your health.
If you need to, try to get Temmie Armor. It really helps with him.

I think you can let your HP go to 1 before you need to heal - I read something about his attacks only become lethal when he reduces you to 1 HP.

I was at level 3 and was completelybbroke but ibeat him with one try by having the worn dagger and filling my inventory with dog salads and im not that good at undertale

Does Asgore even get better stats as you level up?

In True pacifist you do it with 20 HP and Lvl 1... so what is it like with level 10?

Talking with him 3 times and healing with the pie makes the fight easy compared to what comes next. Also the stats of items themselves don´t mean much - going to the fight with torn notebook and glasses (for more invincibility) should work just fine.

With Tem armor should be even easier.

A single bullet cannot take you below 1 health. In that, if you have two health, and get hit by a flame that does 3 damage, you'll drop to 1 health. If you're hit by another bullet during his attack, though, you will die.

Temmie Armor is your best bet. I used the dog residue to sell to temmie enough times to get the temmie armor. It's really helpful. You could also go to the hotel like EvilDylan said. That would help. Try getting the patterns to his attacks. They're like Toriels, so think back to that.
