Undertale

Undertale

Why is the undertale fandom so hated?
I`ve been in the fandom for quite a while and i can safetly say that i havent seen anything that really makes it deserve all the hatred it gets. I want to hear someone else`s opinion on the matter and why they hate the fandom

It's no wonder Chara wanted to kill everyone.

Kid this was a discussion on why someone WONDERED why everyone hated the community. Not because someone hated the game you apparently devote your life to. Stop bothering other people who either hate the community or the game (also what if I told you asriel is my 3rd hated character in the game

Some legit reasons, as i don't see porn a reason anymore. R34. It happens.you can be disturbed yeah but it happens.

Next to hating the fandom, in combination some people before didnt like the game.

1. Let's players get bombarded with requests to play the game.
1.2 if they don't play it "right" people get mad, even while it's a blind playthrough.

2. Sjw. Because the game has some of the "lesser population" in terms of sex and sexual orientations, a lot of sjw's are attracted to this. Then bc of that they want to " correct" everyone who got their own headcanon bc suddenly they "know" more about the characters. Example: frisk. We never got a gender and toby did this bc he wanted everyone to be able to be emerged. The sjw's however directly begin to scream that they were non binary and said everyone who just shares their own thoughts, that they are "insulting". A pretty stubborn part of the fandom which is best avoided. Tumblr is known for this + the porn.
Thus more irritation.

3. The amount of theories and headcanons. While this is interesting to some, not everyone likes their game to be overanalyzed and researched. it can be tiring to see the 10th gaster theory or sans etc. Not to mention that "Game Theory" did not help with it's video wich now got the reputation of just being made bc of viewer pressure bit made with no actual research.

4. The way other games are brushed aside, sometimes more favourites of other players. Yes, also kinda has to do with gamefaqs. The massive sudden populairity can cause irritation if things start to clash with the likes of "best game ever" and the "i found it an ok/meh" game. The rush in populairity collected so many different players. Not everyone has to like it but in combination with the previous points, most people will get tired to figure out if you're a normal enthiousiast, or one of those points above.

Karima also has some good points

They asked why people hate the Undertale fandom, I told them the reason why there are people that hate anything that's popular. The more people are associated with something, the more likely it is that the kinds of people you don't want to be a part of that thing will be (those that make porn, cringy fan-fictions, etc). This is also true for people that don't like it as well. Some will have good reasons to not like it or its fans, while others will hate it just to be different or because they just like to ridicule the fans. This isn't for Undertale specifically, this is true for pretty much every fandom that has risen and fallen over the years.

As for Undertale, I could care less what other people think of the game or its community. I know I enjoy it, I have my reasons for why I enjoy it, and that's all that matters to me.

And as for Asriel being your 3rd most hated character...

Well due to my nature I must say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

However, that doesn't necessarily mean your opinion can't be wrong.

Actually I don't really care what you or anyone thinks of the character, and I find it weird that you even brought that up.

To me, there's only 2 things that make a critic, a "critic"

1.Reason

2.Evidence

For example:

Random Person:"I don't like the game because [Reason] and wanna know why? see this [Evidence]"

And now the different reactions:

How i would react:"Not bad, i agree/disagree with you, Undertale may have [Evidence] but the other aspects kinda cover that up don't they?"

How a toxic fan would react:"WHAT THE F*** MAN?! THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER! YOU DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE IF YOU HATE IT! DIE BY FIRE AND DIE ALONE HATER!"

Sure Undertale is a great game, but when someone doesn't like it, just leave them be. You DON'T need to go all "Hate Nuke Bomb" on them.

It's just like with me and my best friend. He likes Clash Of Clans/Clash Royal, I like Undertale. I don't get mad at him for not liking Undertale, and he doesn't get mad at me for not liking Clash Of Clans/Clash Royal

Toxic fans say they will be forever pacifist, but when they nuke haters with hate? They're actually Genocidal Maniacs, but in a different way.

Toxic fans are too much indulged in a run/route, that they don't realize they're going another run/route... A darker one... Much Much darker...

So you're probably gonna say "You're overthinking this" "You're just a loser" bla bla bla and skip most of what i type, but i don't hate ya for it. Skip stuff you want, read stuff you want.

But when you say i'm "Overthinking" this whole situation, if the fandom IS going throuh an era of hate and darkness. Is anything we all say "Overthinking"?

Look, i'm just spitballin' here, but Toxic Fans who think they're the best pacifists, they're blind, they don't realize hitting hate with hate, just makes them Genocidal Maniacs

I end my case here... For now
I agree with you about those fans, but to be fair, a lot of "critics" call the game ♥♥♥♥ without explaining why they think so or they give reasons why they dislike it but they try to shove their opinion down the throats of fans and call them idiots for thinking that the game is good.

Let's not forget that not only fans can be toxic.

thats a fanboyish thing to say
From what i can tell, everyone hates the fandom because of the amount of cringe, porn and stupid nerds who think they know everything, along with people who think they`re game is the best there is and no one can have opinions? and that everyone MUST do a pacifist run otherwise you would be a monster etc?

Tbh fans that think that their game is the best is not exclusively UT's problem. Just look at the Legend of Zelda fandom.

Also, try to put all your thoughts in one comment please.

Easy list to follow along to:

1. Tumblr grabbed hold of it
2. Tumblr ruins anything good
(look at what happened to Steven Universe)

I understand that their are toxic players and all, that will attack people for saying Undertale isn't a good game. But not all of us are toxic, not all of us are just people that obsess over Undertale and criticize people who hate it. I've seen hate on the game, and I don't care, it's just what people think of it. If someone doesn't like a game, that is their opinion. And it's kind of painful to think people say the game is bad and all of a sudden out of no where some Undertale fan says, "SCREW YOU, IT'S THE BEST GAME EVER". But people can have their opinions, and people that complain about the R34, that's not going to end any time soon. People have these fetishes/fantasies, and that's why people are drawing Papyrus and Sans doing nasty incest things together. It just won't end, so I feel that isn't a valid reason why it's a bad game. There is porn made for a lot of popular games, this is far from the first.

I came to Steam, created my account, bought Undertale, and loved the game. Then I went to the community and was surprised about all the arguments. So not all of us are toxic, some of us just liked the game and are being pulled into the large group of toxic fans out there just because it's proven we played it. I do know the fandom is bad, but this is definitely the first time that happened to a good game.

So I created a Thread where I said I enjoyed killing all the characters.
Noone trying to burn me yet.

I remember once I was called "toxic" just for having a Sans profile pic, why do people have to stereotype others like that. I'm just representing the fact that I like the character, and I thought he was funny. It's the first game I bought because at the time I didn't know what else was a good game on Steam, so I met Sans and thought, "He's a cool character, I should have a profile pic of him". Let's just say some of the haters get a little out of hand and randomly insult Undertale fans for showing they like the game.

Can a person like a game anymore? I'm not completely sure.
