UNDERTALE HELP NEEDED (Soulless Genocide/Pacifist run stuff)
Hah okay so when I first got Undertale, I played a neutral run. Then I replayed and did a pacifist run, and then i replayed and did the genocide run (big mistake!!! fml)
Today I decided to replay the pacifist route for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles and good times but a soulless pacifist run is a thing????? why???? its creepy as all hell!!!!
ANYWAYS my question: so i completed the Soulless Pacifist run (technically?? I finished the game & now my save file is at The End right b4 the Asgore fight) but now I'm wondering ---- if i replay the game AGAIN, and attempt the pacifist run, will it end up being the soulless pacifist run again bc i stupidly decided the play the genocide run, or now (since i completed soulless pacifist) will it just go back to good ol regular true pacifist??
** PLEASE ANSWER IF YOU KNOW!!! **
If anything about what I said is confusing, just let me know, I'm still kinda freaking out over that ♥♥♥♥..... damn

Nothing triggered in the game will fix it.
I know how to fix it via file editing, but then everyone will get angry if I tell you how.

Yeah no I know how to fix it with the file editing and I think I'm going to do that.
I understand that ppl are like "you're supposed to live with the consequences of what you did" but if I had the option to delete all the files about my life irl I would do it in a heartbeat lmao.

You know how to fix it via file editing, right? What file do you delete, then?

I'm on a mac so I did the whole ~/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.undertale/ thing and delete the undertale.ini file (or maybe it was .uni I already trashed tf outta it so i don't remember lmao) and then i had 3 other files called file0 file8 and file9 so i trashed those as well.

Well, that doesn't work.
And, I was trying to edit my comment that you quoted, and ended up deleting it instead. Dang it. :steamsad:

oh idk I think it worked for me?? Because when I played the soulless pacifist run, when I started flowey was like "Do your thing Chara" and this time (post - my deleting the files) he did the whole "you're new to the underground aren't cha" speech.

You only deleted your save data, not the file that causes the effects.

I'll just go ahead and tell you how to fix it. This might not work on all computers, though.

Download the Undertale corrupter HATE.
Corrupt and restore Undertale at max settings.
Disable Steam Cloud.
Uninstall.
Reinstall.
Delete your UNDERTALE folder.
Corrupt and restore again at max settings.
Launch Undertale.
Quit Undertale.
Delete your new UNDERTALE folder.
Corrupt and restore Undertale again at max settings.
Uninstall.
Reinstall.
Launch Undertale.
Quit Undertale.
Delete your new UNDERTALE folder.
Log in and out of Steam.

Your game should be fixed.

it's been 9 years since this problem was originally adressed, but here's a way to fix it on mac:
if you're on mac, do the following:
go to the "finder" app (far left of the little bar at the bottom of your screen), and then go to the bar at the top of your screen, it should say "go" as one of the options, press that, then press "go to folder". There will be a search bar, where you should copy in "/Users/YOUR APPLE ID'S NAME/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.undertale/". From there, you should delete the file named "system_information_(something, it varies)". This should remove all evidence of a past genocide run.
if you're on windows, there's a much easier way to get the same result:
go to undertale's page on steam, and press the gear next to the game, then press "browse local appdata". Then delete all the files inside of that and you'll have to redownload Undertale. once this is complete, you can open the game back up and you're good to go.

You will also need to go into your Steam userdata folder, find the numbered file that corresponds to Undertale, find the copy of system_information_92 there and edit it to be unreadable. See, Undertale uses Steam Cloud saving for this one instance to link the genocide consequences to your account. If you just delete it, it will simply reload the file that causes the 10 minute black screen and force you into that when you start a new game.
