Undertale
How do you edit the text (Dialog)
I already know how to edit the sprites and the music but I would love to be able to change the "script" (dialog) and I know it is possible. so if you know how, please help me :)

Google it.
you are a genius, don't you think i tried
I've looked on Google and YouTube and didn't find it. Guess I'll go figure it out myself. the closest I've gotten is the Data file for Undertale. I saw some of the text in there, but it's such a big file that I couldn't find the text again.

I found text starting at line 35621 (I think)
guys you do realizer this is a 2016 thread right
For anyone still here: The text is in data.win on lines 36639 - 37895 with few empty lines in between:
  • It starts with item names (displayed in inventory),
  • around 36779 there are character names,
  • from 36795 dialogue parts (starting with flowey's "You're new to the& UNDERGROUND^2, aren'tcha?"),
  • from 36816 is stuff that's written during encounter (starting like obj_something_somenumber "text"),
  • between these ^ are (I guess) dialogue parts (idk, it's pretty hard to tell what's what)
  • from 37864 are lines of Mettatton's opera
  • and from 37885 until the end are things displayed when using items.
There are also some special symbols (I really have no idea what most of them do, if anyone can figure this out pls let me know):
  • "&" - end of line, text behind this will be written into a new line
  • "^1" or "^2" - apparently text colour (thanks (Edgy) Asriel Dreemurr)
  • Some lines begin with \E0 or \M1 or similar stuff, which I also don't really understand
The rest of file seems to be related to pictures, sounds and God-knows-what. Please let me know if I missed something.

^1 and ^2 might change the color of the word’s text from white to red or yellow given the example of Flowey’s dialogue.

I’m not 100% sure that’s what it does, did you test it?

^1 and ^2 does not change the color of dialogue, \(capital letter) changes the color of the word to the right of it. like, \YHELLO displays HELLO in yellow in the actual game.
(eg. "I am \BTORIEL\X, caretaker of the \RRUINS\X." so TORIEL would be blue and RUINS would be red. (\X stops the coloring and returns to white.).)
