Why do people like sans so much?

before anyone accusses me of doing a "bait disscussion" this isn't bait, I generally want to know why people always talk about sans and like him so much. I think he's pretty annoying tbh.
I hate him, I've got to admit.

so I want to see the other side of this whole thing, why does everyone find sans to be so cool or funny, also stuff like: "because hes funny", "because of the boss fight/memes" or "because hes cool" arent really answers. I'd like real answers that describe what you like about him.

Also I'm not trying to send hate or get any "funny" responses, I'd just genuinely want to know, don't accuse me of trying to do either. Seriously I don't want to harass, have anyone harassed or be harassed, I'd just like to know.

My theory is that a lot of fans are drawn to the superficial aspects of his personality. On the surface, he's (as you said) funny and "cool" in some people's eyes. Those attributes tend to pop up a lot in characters that dominate fandoms. The nonchalant attitude gives him that "I don't care what people think of me" image that many admire. People are drawn to confidence like that, regardless of its source. Funny characters are also obsessed over because, well, people like to laugh. Characters like him tend to have those aspects of their personality blown out of proportion and obsessed over, resulting this the weird "fandom" versions of the character. In my mind, the reason people "love" Sans so is because they are after what they imagine and want him to be, and not what he is.

Your taking away the options of why people like sans! If you think that memes bossfights jokes and trombones arent a valid answer, then good for you! but that wont stop anyone else from saying these. Plus taking away everthing you just said was "Not a valid answer" from Sans he might as well be dead if he didnt have all these qualities (He could live without the memes though) XD

When I said take out the boss fights and the memes away from the picture I was talking about basicly anything the fandom influence on the game, the "funny" parts of the boss fight or the boss fight itself don't really add anything to his character in my book, but even if I said no memes, people would still bring up boss fight memes.

Also when I said no saying "because he's cool/funny" I was talking about people giving vague answers that don't explain anything, answers like rynojay25 are perfect because they bring up why the fandom would like sans and what traits are common in liked characters.

Also I still have this thread up just in case someone else gets a good answer.
