is gaster sans dad or brother or none of the above

ive played undertale on a pacifist route and never knew of gaster i looked up undertale and saw something regarding gaster and clicked the video and i found out about gaster the only problem is he is askeleton like papyrus and sans and i dont know if he is the brother or father of the two so if you could tell me that would be appreciated also dont say anything regarding he was the royal scientist or how he died it was metioned in the video i saw about him.

Gaster is probaly one of the most secretive characters in the game ONLY TOBY KNOWS but he definately is related to sans in some way some reason i am not shure about papyrus,

Lotsa theories to go about Gaster. All we know though that there is indeed a connection between him and Sans and Papyrus.

I'd also like to add to the list of facts Goalready made: Gaster's fonttype is Wing Dings. His full name is also W.D. Gaster (Wing Dings Gaster). This points to the clue that he may have been a skeleton as well, as only the only other ones in the game who use fonts for names are the skeleton brothers.

If he really was a relative, we literally don't know. Seems most people like to go by the father headcanon, though.

to be honest, there is next to nothing about gaster that can be confirmed. he does not even have a confirmed sprite.

And one more thing, did WE (the fanbase) come up with the name "Gaster's followers" or is it in the actual game?

Entry 17th.
Accesible by changing the game files or by some other way.
And...perhaps you should finish all the games endings before reading about Gaster.

fanbase came up with that. for example, the grey monster kid is "goner kid".

they do talk about gaster, and are accessable through certain "fun" values (meaning, possible to show up without file manipulation).

that's about it, though. gaster's room (including the "mystery man" sprite) and even his theme are inaccessable without save manipulation.

so, unless toby confirmed something on twitter, all we know for sure canonically about gaster is that he was the royal scientist, and he dissapered.
