SANS PHONE CALL
Okay..

1. How does Sans know your phone number at the end of a netural run?

2. Sans' random call.

If you dont know what if talking about, go look up,"Undertale - Phonecall after talking to Sans and Papyrus", then come back here.

Okay, Theory Time.

Now, this little call from Sans has always struck me as odd ,and yes, I know there is more phone calls, but this one is ODD.

Sans is the type of guy to make jokes every chance he gets, right?

Well if you say yes to Sans question, he SHOULD, say the following joke:
"Well, you better go catch it."

That just seems like him, right?

But he doesnt say that. Either Toby is missing out on a good joke (not likely) or he did this for a reason.

Instead of the joke, Sans says:
"Nice.
I'll be over to deposit the brewskis."

....beer. Sans missed out on a perfectly good joke for some beer.

Or did he?

Okay..I have a theory.

Sans is kinda childish but he is SMART. He makes stupid secret passwords for time-travelers, but he knows lots about time and space, and there is the whole Gaster thing surronding him too.

What im trying to say is...it wouldnt surprise me if Sans was talking in code with the phone call.

Im not saying it IS in code, but IF it is, I dont want to miss out on a big piece of the game.

I want some people to help me figrue out IF its in code, and IF it is, then what Sans was saying.

GIVE ME YOUR THEORIES.

I would imagine he got your number from Papyrus. Or he just guessed it like Papyrus did if you killed Papyrus. I mean, if Papyrus was able to guess it, why couldn't Sans?

Maybe his prank call wasn't directed at you. Maybe he just picked a random phone number and it just happened to be yours.

But that's just it, it's not really that good a joke anymore. That joke is so old now pretty much everybody would be expecting "Well, you better go catch it" as the punchline. He probably thought it would be funnier to mess with your expectations than play the joke straight.

Papyrus's phone call history
It's the same cellphone Papyrus uses, so the number would already be in the phone. Not sure how he gets it if you kill Papyrus, though.

Then the number itsn't from Pap's phone at ALL.

And I srsly doubt Sans spent the time going through every number like Pap did, especially if it's finding the number of someone he hates.

And how do you know Sans uses the same phone?

Because it runs out of batteries later and they never get a second one besides the one Toriel only uses to text. So I have to assume Sans, Papyrus, and Undyne share one phone for their conversations.

Key word: ASSUME

But that's not my question anyways, so.. you have anymore ideas for how Sans got your number?
The reason he didn't say "you better go catch it" is because literally everyone knows that joke and it wouldn't be funny.

You're supposed to suspect that Sans is going to make that joke, so when he doesn't it plays with your expectations and ends up being a funnier joke because of that.

Never said it WAS directed towards you, Sans is probably intending to talk to someone else in code (this is very likely), but that's IF he is talking in code.

Pap got your number by going through EACH AND EVERY number on the phone, I highly doubt Sans would do the same, especially if you killed his bro.

Sans uses jokes...over...and over...and OVER. Sans would have LOVED to use that joke, especially if its overused.

Like I said just two secs ago...Sans uses overused jokes, he lives and breathes them, he would rather take hearing you be annoyed by his jokes than hear you suprised he didn't make one.

.....Oh well, who really knows what type of humor Sans has?

Still need an answer on how Sans gets your number...

Sans' humor is somewhat sarcastic as he uses it to directly, innocently annoy someone (usually Papyrus) and when directed towards you, his humor becomes somewhat more sinister as he purposely messes with your expectations in order to mislead you.

For instance, take the moment he tells you about "blue attacks", and talks about Papyrus's "special attack".

He first notes that Papyrus has a special blue attack, and then goes on to explain about blue attacks. However, he doesn't tell you that Papyrus's blue attack isn't the same as the other "blue attacks", and it would seem he even expects you to think that they are the same.

So was he intentionally misleading you into possibly dying against Papyrus?

ACTUALLY....Sans was technically telling you the truth and was leading you correctly:

"Don't move and you won't get hurt.", is the truth for both kinds of 'blue attacks'.

Sans has shown that if you are tossed around hard enough in your box, it causes damage, but the thing is, Sans is CAUSING you to move around, same with Pap, only Sans forcfully slams you against the wall, but Pap gently moves you to the floor.

So yes, if you could actually stop yourself from moving you WOULDNT get hurt, but...Sans forces you to move against your will.
No moving also means no jumping . . . so if you didn't move at all, Papyrus would kill you.

Paps battle isn't all blue attacks, just that one moment he changes your color type, thats the blue attack.

The reason the blue attack doesn't hurt with Pap is because he DOESNT want it to hurt, and he probably doesnt want to slam you against the wall (tree in this case) either, so he gently lowers your soul.

Sans doesnt care though and slam dunks you all over the place, but if you hadn't moved when he had done that specfic move, you wouldn't have gotten hurt, but too bad..you don't have a choice.

Sans probably didn't know Pap would take it easy on you (twice), and warned you about it (since it technically is his job), and mayyyyybe he was hinting about the Geno Run and you better not kill anyone or you're gonna have a bad time.
