An Undertale movie would lose all value to the game. Almost like how adaptations of books can turn out horrible. I would never want to see a movie for this game, and I'm positive most of the fanbase wouldn't either.

If Toby made an Undertale movie, it would make Toby make the same mistake as Scott (FNAF creater) Scott is planning on making a FNAF movie, which i think is a very bad idea, because of reasons stated by

I don't want Toby to make the same mistake.

Even if Toby agreed to a movie it'd be impossible to have it actuall fit with them game. Undertale supports things like strong willed females (undyne), crossdressing (mettaton), and gay couples (undyne+alphys and the two royal guards) which are things most big movie makers avoid at all costs in their movies. Besides Undertale is all about your own choices, something that can't be put into movies.

tbh i think no, it would ruin all vaule to the game, and there are some things that movie directers try to avoid like gay/lesbian couples, way to much fighting, ect. :steamsad:

Toby (the guy who made the game) doesn't really check the forums and wouldn't have even had one if Steam didn't force him to have one for the game.

I had a few angles to go at this from, includign several about content and tone. About nine reasons why it probably wouldn't work (with the average point against it being longer than The_Technomancer's entire post).

But, in the end, the real issue is which path would it follow?

Making any given main story ending canon (post pacifist story OR the movie follows the events of a single route) seems to goes against Toby's reasoning for not including achievements.

The best way I could see it being handled is a prequel of sorts. Some things are too strongly entrenched into headcanons by now to do safely (Gaster). Or would risk reeking of bad fanfic qulity (probably "six chidren" prequel). The safest choice, in my opinion, would be a story set in the era of young Asriel and Chara.

It's a bit riskier, but perhaps the choice with the greatest prequel potential (if done right) would involve following Flowey as Flowey during the pre-Frisk era. Showing both his own and the Underground's descent into despair, while also serving as an excuse to revisit most of the cast, regardless of how long/short the time was between Chara and Frisk. It'd also be able to be easily retconned or ignored, since most of it gets erased by Flowey's resets anyways.

I agree.

Scott is trying to satisfy the needs of his fans, and he doesn't realise they will always want more.

Toby's smart. He knows a sequal, or a movie, or a book or whatever, is a bad idea.

Please no.
Undertale, in my opinion, is an experience that you, the gamer, should experience yourself. A movie would ruin that.

Besides, everything is based off choice. It wouldn't be right to have a movie, since a movie can't implement that kind of thing, it's best to avoid a movie altogether.

Besides, when have you heard of a good film adaptation of a video game? That's right, you never have.
