Unused human ideas
Okay, so there's this unused sprite that looks like Chara with their face shaded so you can't see it. Most people think it's Chara because it show up as your reflection in debug mode. But there are a few things bothering me with this.
1. Their skin is yellow like frisk. Not pale like Chara
2. Therir sweater has two stripes like Asriel's, instead of one like Chara's
Am I just looking at it too closely? I like to think Toby knew what he was doing with this.

I myself believe that Frisk and Chara are the same person, and I often bring this up to support my argument.

Well, I believe that Frisk, Chara and the player are all seperate entities. The player controls frisk and Chara narrates. After a genocide run people shift the blame to Chara saying "It wasn't me! It was this psycho child!" when in reality, Chara did nothing wrong.

I am entirely in agreement with that. My view is that the fallen child is Chara, but may not necessarily see themselves as being Chara. If you, the player, show them the potential of a life filled with kindness and hope, then they will simply abandon their previous identity, Chara, who was a bitter, hateful person, in favour of Frisk, whom everyone loves. However, should the player reveal to them a life of genocidal destruction, I believe that the final scene is them being 'resurrected' mentally as their former self. This means that the player is even more at fault, since it means that playing Undertale involves nurturing a child, and choosing whether or not to pass morality onto them.

Good theory, but I believe Chara may or may not have been evil before. I do think they may have been a little messed up, but ultimately they sacrificed themselves for the monsters. When you get a soulless pacifist ending, Chara is punishing you for the genocide run. They are showing you that you are not above the consequences.

I myself believe that pre-genocide Chara is supposed to represent human curiosity, rather than simply evil.

That's a cool idea, but I think Chara never turns evil. And if they do they're not all bad.

Hey, guess you didn't accept my friend invite because you didn't have any reason to. But I sent it to you because of this comment you made. There are very few Undertale fans that believe this theory, and I'm one of them :D

I just wanted to talk to you about this theory. Of course, you still don't need to accept my invite if you don't want to, though.

It is a good theory. I actually believed it for a while. It just started getting in the way of me shipping Charisk. Yep. That's one reason.

I'm extremely sorry. I just maintain a policy of only adding people as friends who I know in real life. I'm an extremely paranoid person and I'm afraid I just find that unsettling - you didn't do anything in particular. I would be perfectly happy to share my ideas on a thread, were you to open one, however.

You're right, but it seems odd that the first design of Chara should look so much like Frisk.

Because he used the sprite of Frisk to make the sprite of Chara.
Both should look similar so Asriel have a reason to mistake you with them.
