*MAJOR SPOILERS* Why do people think this is so sad?

Keep in mind, it's been a long while since I played and beat the game, but I recently started thinking about this and decided to ask.

Why do people say this game is so sad that they cried? I mean, it IS sad at times, don't get me wrong, to the point where if I were talking while playing the games, it'd make my voice catch, but that's it. I just don't see (from what I remember) why this is so sad. And yes, I am talking about True Pacifist, heh.

I mean, some people say they cried during Asriel's boss fight... I'm not sure how, to be honest. I personally think that it was a really awesome boss battle.

Others said during the explanation near the end, which I thought was indeed sad, was that many people's reasons? I don't know.

People mentioned Asriel sacrificing himself. If I remember correctly, I was also sad with that, too.

I indeed was sad the first time with leaving Toriel. She reminds me of my own mother, so that was hard to do, especially after that hug.

Was it that a character one hated throughout the game turned out to be Asriel?

I remember the amalgamations. Those things creeped me out, but I guess I didn't think about what they actually were. Can't say for sure, though, can't remember the "secret lab" all that well.

I do remember the tapes a little bit, but not well. Were they sad, too?


But I do not remember anything else particularly sad about the game. Perhaps I should play it again. But I honestly remember more warm, happy feelings than anything. Happy ending, and what one sacrificed themself for was not in vain... IIRC.


But yeah, why did so many people cry at this game?

And for the record (if that is the proper saying), I am quite hard to make cry from entertainment, so that may be a factor in this.

The pacifist battle obviously, I was like "I am going to beat the crap out of you, you scumbag"
Then, Toby flipped the tables, and made the villian a hero (in a way). You wanted to save him, because that's what you have been doing on that route, sparing people making friends along the way. But, there is one person you can't save, a person so screwed over by fate, and forced to basically suffer in an internal Hell all alone in the underground. Just made you feel empathy for the character, that he would never see his family or friends again, that he would just be all alone, not even as himself, but as something worse then a true monster.

Woah... hmm. I never thought of it thay way. Perhaps it might've hit me harder if I thought of it that way from the moment it happened. Or maybe I did, and I just don't remember.

The sad moments with Asriel, leaving/killing Toriel, and killing/being mean to Papyrus are way too overrated. I mean people missed other sad moments like meeting Snowdrake's mother and relizing who she was. She just wants to see her son and she doesn't want to hurt you. IShe's more different than the other Amalgamates. Heckling Snowdrake is another sad moment. You crushed his hopes and dreams by heckling him a few times, then he runs away crying(?) It's more worst when you heckle him once, then the battle just ends. Would you feel bad for him for doing that?

I actually don't recall Snowdrake's mother that well... I do feel like I remember someone's mom, though, in one of the amalgamates.

And I think I would. If I recall correctly, the snow monsters that you fight are all just kids.

Snowdrake is the snow monster with the hat, right?

I think you made a mistake for the Snowdin enemies. I think that all of them are teenagers(?) Snowdrake is the bird with the snowflake on his face. Ice Cap is the small snowman with the ice hat. Gyrtrot is the deer with decorations. You meet his father in MTT Resort. He'll explain the back story to the family. You meet his mother somewhere in the True Lab. You have to be in Pacifist if you want to meet her.
