Sans' Powers? (UNDERTALE)
So, we all know a certain chub skel who kills us over and over in the genocide run. But, how did he get his powers? (In case you fogot: levitation, time manipulation, 'shortcuts', gaster blasters)

We aready know that his eye when using levitation flashes blue and yellow; inidcating the two colored human souls: Justice and Patience.

It's just so unexpected, is all I'm saying. He only has 1 HP and 1 ATK, yet he does so much damage! (He really does only do 1 dm, but there are no invincibility frames.) It's not determination, he'd melt. Even if it was determination, his stats would've improved. Maybe he absorbed a human soul, or... IDK. Let me know your side of the argument.

Either a scientific background gave him those powers indirectly (cough, Gaster, cough).

Or, he injected himself with determination. And yes, he could be melting, since Sans is one of the two monsters that "sweat"( Alphys being the other one). And as we all know, skeletons cannot sweat.

"But, but, they can't bleed either!" That's ketchup. Confirmed by Toby Fox.

There is absalutly no proof Gaster has any relation to Sans. Having fonts for names does not instantly mean they are related.

There is absolutely no proof he isn't related, either. He has strange blueprints written in a weird "language", which could be wingdings.
Also, "Gaster Blaster". Explain how Sans has GASTER blasters if he is not related to Gaster.

"which could be wingdings"

Key word: could

You're just speculating.
And the Gaster Blaster thing, I feel that Toby just added Gaster to make people freak out over characters that don't mean anything to the story, and called Sans's blasters "Gaster blasters" to give people even more reason to make crazy assumptions, like Gaster being Sans's dad.

It's because he's programmed to do so.

Sans is definitely related to Gaster - Gaster Blasters, font type, and Gaster's distinctly skeletal appearance are pretty obvious hints. Exactly how, though, is completely up to interpretation.

I never said it's confirmed now, did I? Unless you have a better idea as to how Sans is NOT related to Gaster, I'll stick to my "head-cannon", as people seem to call it :P

That. Now that's some good stuff.

I do have a better reason.

That's just your own speculation, without any proof. Just like my speculation.

Huh, would'ja look at that.
catherienchan Oct 30, 2016 @ 5:24am
i think gaster gave sans his powers, now i know people think its silly saying that sans and gaster are related just because they are named after fonts (wingdings and comic sans) but sans also has gaster blasters. Sans also has a lab and we can assume that gaster liked science as he made the core. also gaster looks like a skelton. but thats just my opinun (sorry for spelling xD)
Vanessa Oct 30, 2016 @ 5:25am
I think you should give Toby some more credit there. I would actually believe the idea that Gaster's whole thing isn't exactly an entirely fleshed out or deep backstory and Toby just thought it was a cool little secret.

But I think he would at least know who Gaster is and have a reason for the hints given in the game.

I think it's safe to say that the gaster room (possible sprite 1) is supposed to be Gaster. at the very least, it's the fan interpretation that Toby has accepted as canon through merch.

For as how he got his powers? I'm going to list all his powers and see where it might have came from;

1. Karma Retribution (KR or the poison effect): Asgore most likely gave him some sort of privilege or power to do that when he became the Judge.

2. Blue soul levitation or moving: It is skeletal ability, same as Papyrus, just he mastered it. Also, he can't levitate random things, only stuff with souls (lucky for Flowey).

3. Time manipulation: In no time anywhere in the game did it show he can manipulate time.

4. Shortcuts: Guessing from his quantum physics book, he creates little holes in time and space anywhere he wants, and basically makes a worm hole to his destination. While this is not definite, it would make a somewhat valid argument.

5. Gaster Blasters: Most likely from Gaster, but it could have just been a troll from Toby, judging as in the game, he is a dog. The blasters are similar to canine skulls. *wink* *wink*.

6. Ignoring Invincibly Frames: Sans has shown multiple times that he breaks the game;
Unavoidable attacks,
Changing the Game Over screen,
And fake Sparing you.
While this is all at once: the get dunked on moment, it might not be just Sans. Toby Fox may have not liked you killing all his characters, and gave him those powers, including ignoring invincibly frames. This might be the case because you can hear the dog song in the get dunked on game over screen.

7. Finally his magical blue and yellow eye. I think of it as a metaphor, Sans had the patience to wait until the very end to deliver justice. Also during Sans special attack, his eye flashes blue whenever you try to move the box, signaling to be patient and wait until he falls asleep to win. As to how he got it, either Gaster gave it to him with science, it is a Judge magic ability, or it is another skeketal ability. One more point I want to make; If and only if, Papyrus had this ability, it would be the same color as Sans' because it matters about the soul traits, not their favorite color.

As for the "bleeding", it is not confirmed as ketchup. Could be DT, judging as skeles are more physical than other monsters since their attacks are permanent. Also, he could have melted before he died while off the screen. While it may not be blood or DT, it is definitely confirmed as ketchup.

Also, about Gaster, it could either be a brother, father, friend, science boss, or a science mentor. Most likely a scientific mentor. If they were related, it would be a brother.
