Small little tidbit in the Toriel fight!
If you manage to get killed by Toriel (which is very hard if you're honestly trying to beat her), she will cover her mouth and gasp, realizing that she just murdered you.

Weeeeeeeeelllllllllll what do you think?

When I first battle Toriel, I died to her over 20 times.

I was trying to past the Ruins, but I had the Bannage as my armor. That's why I was dying to Toriel's Battle.

I knew that. There's also a sprite called spr_toriel_suicide0, so in an earlier version of Undertale, this might have followed if she actually killed Frisk. To be honest, I wish they'd left it in.

It's exceptionally difficult to die to Toriel, though. If you get low enough for her to kill you, she will refuse to attack.

She still attacks, it's just super hard to get hit.

It's impossible. To die, you have to wait for a specific attack when over 3HP, and then you basically have to blunder into as many death-fire-thingys as possible.

...No, it's IMPOSSIBLE. Her 'falter' attacks actively dodge you and they literally don't even have hitboxes - I've actually debugged the game to walk into those attacks and they don't deal any damage.

I know that.

Then there's no way you died to Toriel 20 times. Unless you did it on purpose. Once I can believe. Twice, maybe. 3 times or more is frankly absurd.

If you kill Toriel in a previous run (Not sure if it needs to be genocide or not), and do a Pacifist, clicking the *Talk option will say "You thought about telling Toriel you saw her die before

But...That's Creepy

Can you show Mercy without fighing or running away?"

Cewl, right?

It happens anytime you kill her then reload your save.

I think Toby intentionally wanted people to kill her the first time (as the method of sparing her is kind of cryptic so a lot of people accidentally kill her), then that talk option is to give you a hint on how to spare her when you inevitably reload to try and undo your actions.

So much genius put into this game. Unfortunately a lot of it goes unappreciated.

I was shocked to the point of being speechless when I killed Toriel my first run through, and I felt such a deep misery after Flowey had revealed that he remembered what I had done.
