Its an AU (Alternate Universe)

I do believe, however, that it is a prequel where you play as Chara but I'm not certain on that (the full game hasn't been released, or even made yet, so its hard to know as of yet) but I'm pretty sure its some kind of prequel in an AU

Especelly since Asriel is, alive and not a talking flower
Plus Frisk not existing and all sorts of things
Could as well be just normal neutral or pacifist with chara tossed
Or Fan Fic Toby Fox read so he is just making a game out of it... wait.

It could be that Frisk is Kris's brother, as seen at the beginning there are 2 beds

The other bed is Asriel's, who is grown up and away at college in this universe.

For the most part it's a completely different universe with parallel characters. It could be a prequel in some regard dealing with Sans and Papyrus (who may be the same versions as those in Undertale), but we'll have to wait until the full game comes out to see if that's the case.

Yep Its an official game made by Toby, but its not really a seqeul or preqeul because its set in an AU. It's a completely different universe that may have the same characters but with different backstories and lives and all that.
