I had to destroy the rug ghost on the leaves. Why?
I'm less than 10 minutes into the "non violent" game and forced to kill something.

No, there's a way to spare anything and everything. Sometimes the answer just isn't obvious. You just have to test out what works and what doesn't.

Edit: I should also mention that the game isn't "non-violent," there's a boss that you have to fight. It's only that you don't have to kill anyone.

And that boss you have to fight it´s almost in the end of the game. The next time you make a new game you don´t have to kill anybody, included that boss.:balloonicorn:

(Don't look at this if you don't want a spoiler on how to save the ghost Napstablook)

Go to Act and continually do *Cheer. Eventually he will do Dapperblook. If you do *Cheer once more, he will stop crying acid tears and you will be able to progress without `hurting` or `killing` him. :steamhappy:

Well, if you are trying to make pacifist route you just have to try whit the acting, this we are going to make him let you Spare them. If you are in Napstablook you have to CHEER him

One tip I'd like to add is: If you're going for a pacifist route, keep an eye on what the monster in question is doing, saying, and what they look like. Being aware of all of this will help you pacify them (Though some are less obvious than others. If you're stumped, just keep trying things. If I remember correctly there is only one boss where you HAVE to use the Attack command and that's much later in the game.)
