How to Beat Asgore Without Killing/Attacking Him

I have to fight Asgore and I REALLY don't want to kill him! Please help!

You just attack him until he can't fight anymore, then he lets you either choose mercy or kill him. Just keep attacking.

Sometimes fighting is the only option, but fighting doesn't necessarily mean killing.
