genocide after true pacifist? :(
yah, hello, i just finished true pacifist (after i failed the first time i tried because i accidentally killed someone and didn't realise) and altho i'm very happy with that and literally do not have the will to kill anyone because they're very sweet, i'm contemplating to do a genocide run.

1) is it worth it? like, do i really need to play genocide myself or could i just watch it to keep my true pacifist ending?
2) how will it affect me? i heard i can't go back to true pacifist after that, which is a bit upsetting, i'd hate to leave the game and flowey yelling in the back of my head about all the choices i made, everyone being dead, my heart broken, everyone else's hearts broken, sans doing no more jokes, papyrus not feeding me his gross spaghetti and momma toriel not baking b'scotch pie for me anymore so, like, help?

i guess i got attached to the characters, i seriously don't even feel like fighting anyone. like, at all. i loved interacting with everyone as friends n stuff, so, yeah, opinions?

Reading about the genocide route and then watching it is exactly what I did after clearing the true pacifist route.

Clearing the genocide route will ultimately change the post credits scene of the pacifist route. I will never allow that on my copy of the game. For you, it's all up to you on whatever you please with your copy.
The whole "doing genocide completly alters your game" thing is so overblown. It literally just changes the last part of the end credits. Once you do a true reset, no one remembers. The end credits stay slightly altered, and that's it.

genocide is totally worth playing through. it reveals a whole other part of the story, while also giving you completely different gameplay and some tough bosses and fights. if you can get over the feels, you might have some fun with it. and ye, like comment above says, it doesn't change much. only that little cutscene. you can fully replay pacifist.

It should be mentioned that there is a way to reverse these changes by deleting the save data manually.

Never had Switch, however found this[www.nintendo.co.uk]. Can't verify, but think it should work for Undertale just as for any other game.

hm, but that just deletes the entire progress on my account, no? i think at that point it would be easier to see if i can just make another user on my switch and start a whole new run on undertale with that :cinnamon2:

If by entire progress you mean saves for every other game, then no: step 3 of the link above states that you select the individual game for which to delete data.

no no, i did mean just the whole undertale file. sorry, worded poorly.

Hm, well, I don't quite understand what kind of progress there could be after a regular in-game "reset" (besides the aforementioned changes), but if creating another user would resolve that, then guess it would make sense to do a genocide run on a separate user.

eah ur rite, ig i'm just overdramatic with the characters remembering me n all that, i'll just do a reset if it doesn't work making another user. thank u :cocochan2:

Hah, no problem.
I mean, I get attachment. I, too, went for true pacifist first, and am now reluctant to do genocide (well, in my case, it's more due to burning out, but still). Suppose it would've made more sense to do genocide first, then hard reset, but oh well.

yeah, totally get that. as for me, like i said, i don't even feel like doing genocide. i don't think anyone deserves to die, and there was just a single character that i didn't like all that much. doing genocide now feels a bit... forced? but i know that watching it and playing it feels different, so at some point, surely i'll manage to do genocide. then again, rest assured, sans will not let me pass. i can not see myself beating him. :|

As an aside, you could check out Deltarune. It's available on Switch.
It says it's intended for those who beat Undertale, but don't think it means having completed genocide, because the setting is in the world after pacifist ending.

UPD: apparently, it's not quite as simple as I said in the last sentence, but I probably shouldn't give more detail.

If you want difficulty, then go for Genocide Route.

It may alter your ending scene and it's PERMANENT, however you can full reset your saves and you can play it without seeing creepy altered true ending picture.
