Gender Confusion (DeltaRune)
Why do people get really confused about genders? Like Susie is a girl (Heck, her name is feminine) but fan-artists draw her very masculine. or how kris is a boy, but people From Game theory call both Kris a She and a He. I think it's hilarious.

So i was wondering, Has anyone had any confusions about characters genders?

I know frisk is gender neutral, btw.

In the game, characters refer to Kris as "they" meaning their gender is also ambiguous like Frisk & Chara. Although since the name does sound like the common name "Chris", it does make sense for the vast majority of the world to see Kris as a boy.

If you feel like being a mad scientist, you can always nickname them "Kristina". ;D

What they said about Kris being gender-neutral, and also female characters can be masculine. And seeing as Susie was a bully and portrayed as rather muscular given her weaponry, I would also portray her rather masculine in an attempt to keep it canon.

I get that reference, and I love you for it.

I can see why Susie Would be shown as masculine. it makes perfect sense to me. Not every girl fits in with girl stereotypes (Liking flowers and pink, for example). This Idea came to me when i was looking at some of the art on steam. there was a picture (I'll have to find it again later) That had Kris, Ralsei, and Susie. Susie looked a lot like a muscled teen boy, not even having any sign that I could see that she was a girl, like eyelashes or The tiny details that artists use to show that someone is a girl.

Hmm... I only remember people referring to Kris as a 'He', or as Asriel's little brother. Where in the game was Kris called a they?

Judging by the shape of the body, I would also say that Susie looks like a girl here. Just a masculine girl.

And yes, I believe Chris, like Frisk or Chara, has been addressed with gender-neutral pronouns. I think you may have been confused in that Asriel was called their brother fairly often, so it's easy to remember the inverse by mistake.

yellow purple Dino is the typical ‘tall bully girl’ archetype, so it’d only make sense that artists draw her big.

The only gender confusion I see consistently is people thinking Ralsei is a girl.

Girls can be big and buff and I wholeheartedly support big + buff Susie. Kris is in the same situation as Frisk so I'm just "Eh." at this point about them.

But yeah, I'm going "???" at people believing Ralsei to be a girl. Like. He calls himself a prince. He goes by he/him pronouns. Should be no-brainer here, but??

Like, is it just because he has traits that's traditionally considered feminine in media? (Bakes, a kind do-gooder who wants to be helpful, worries about people and fusses over them, uses healing magic, timid disposition - dude, I've seen people get confused about his gender once it's revealed that he has long eyelashes when the first came out) I just don't get it... :torielsad:

I haven't played the game much but I know a few things about it. two characters I know of can break the 3rd or 4th wall knowing save files and what not so how do they not know you're gender? Is it because frisk is the gender of the player playing as frisk or is frisk gender neutral? I believe frisk is the gender of the player playing as them but yet the game wouldn't know therefore flowe and sans wouldn't know your gender, cause they were program not to know. Also, sorry for any spoliers. But you gotta think it kind of makes sense but I know it won't hold up much but it's just an idea.

The OP was referring to Deltarune though, not Undertale.

Why worry about genders

If anybody is like me, some people wish there were more games where the lead character is female.

I mean... how many video games have done the male protagonist saves the day cliche over and over and over?
