Can you get True Pacifist ending even after you have killed something on your first run?
Hello. I got the game recently and I’m on my first run. I’m aiming for the True Pacifist ending. However, I’m afraid that I might have killed a monster or two on my current run, which is my first one. If you do kill something on your first run, does the second run stay unaffected? Or are you permanently locked out of True Pacifist once you kill something on your first run? I’d really like to know, thanks.

No, you are fine. As long as you don't kill anything on your current run, you'll get the right ending. You'll only be somewhat locked out of the True pacifist after a Genocide route. (Killing everyone.)

I did the date with Undyne and apparently the date with Undyne is permanently locked when you kill something, so... I’m okay, I guess? The only person I remember killing is Napstablook, but “killing” him shouldn’t affect the Pacifist route. So you’re basically telling me that I can get True Pacifist even if I have killed something on my first run? Unless I did the Genocide run on my first try.

Well.. From my point of views base on what I did. I kill every one and didn't kill sans. I did reset after didn't kill any one after that. Still got True Pacifist any way.
Only completing the Genocide Route has any effect on future endings.

The date with undyne isnt blocked unless you forgot to give her water.
Period.
Even if you "killed" napstablook in the beginning, you can still do it.

Killing a monster does lock you from being able to hangout with Undyne, in fact this is what prevents you from getting the Pacifist ending if you kill anyone. It also locks if you don’t give her the water.

You can’t actually kill Napstablook, they are a special case.

Thats why i said "killing" instead of killing.

Attacking napstablook till his HP reach 0 dont kill him, and dont award you with EXP, quite the opposite, it substract 1 EXP from you.

So i will add even more.
You can "kill" napstablook AND the training dummy in the ruins and still get true pacifist.

You will be still at 0 exp.

Actually you don’t lose EXP, you lose “experience”.

I was also more pointing out that you said killing monsters doesn’t effect getting the Undyne date, which it does. You can’t do the date if your EXP is over 0.

Then you should read my comments before actually writing a reply because i never said anything about killing monsters other than napstablook in my first comment, or napstablook and the dummy in the second.

OP said he didnt kill any monster but napstablook, and i answered parting from that premise.

If you didnt kill any monster but napstablook, then the pacifist route isnt locked to you in any moment in the game unless you forgot to give her water, i said it before and ill say it again.

Here, you’re implying that the water is the only thing you need to do in order for the date to be unlocked.

I did read it. I’m saying the way you stated your response makes it misleading about what the parameters for Undyne’s date are.

I wasnt implying anything, i was stating that its the only thing that prevents the undyne hangout. And It is, in OP's premise.

Alright, so I completed my first run and I spared everyone. Got the Pacifist ending. When I went back to MTT resort, Undynd DID call me in fact so I guess that I have filled all of the requirements for the True Pacifist ending. I have yet to deliver the letter to Alphys, but I’ll do it soon. Thanks a ton for all the help! I’ll reset my save file and do the Genocide ending as soon as I’m done with True Pacifist. (Also, because I’m a total weenie, I used a walkthrough for the entire game. Pathetic, I know.)

Your fine. The first route is a forced Genocide/Neutural Run. As long as you spare atleast 1 monster AND beat omega flowey you can do the pacifist run on your next run. you can ONLY do true pacifist after you did neutral on your first run.

They already got the Pacifist ending. Also sparing random encounters doesn't forfeit a Genocide Route.
