You will be fine. As long you don't answer Chara question. I did reset after I kill sans just to see how Sans would act and meet him back to the snow area. He was kinda salty and not salty any more after I don't kill Papyrus.

Be careful though, do not enter the throne room after you kill Sans because if you do then your save file will still pick up the consequences of the genocide run whether you answer charas question or not. As soon as you enter that throne room your file has been flagged.

Lucky you lol. I’m on my third go round of genocide and it took 39 times to beat sans the first time. Haha then I quit and now Im currently trying to beat him a second time. lmao.

That won't affect the save files. The Genocide file is saved in Steam Cloud to make it harder to get rid of.
