Rank The Bosses Of Undertale
This game is phenomenal in many ways. Areas, story, characters etc. But the one this discussion is about is bosses. Bosses are one of the core features of a game. Typically they are found at the end of each area, meaning they have to be one of the best parts of the area to wrap the area up well. In my opinion Undertale has no bad bosses, just some are better than others. Feel free to leave your thoughts down below, but no flame wars. Keep in mind that this is opinionated, and that my opinion is weird. With that said let's go.

10. Toriel
Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the Toriel fight, I just find it too easy having played through the game several times.

9. Mad Dummy
Again, it's a good fight but it's quite easy and isn't too interesting but I love how you make it damage itself, putting it above Toriel.

8. Papyrus
Part of the reason he's so low on my list is because Sans really outshines this boss, but he gets points for introducing the blue heart.

7. Mettaton
I find this fight very interesting, especially the yellow heart. It's just there are 6 bosses in this game that I prefer.

6. Asriel Dreemurr
The final boss of the pacifist route. It's quite a good fight and I like how you free everyone but it's again quite easy

5. Omega Flowey
If it was just the final phase were you give Flowey an utter beatdown then this would probably be higher but I'm not really a fan of the first few phases. Also Finale is my favourite song in the game.

Oh my these four were hard to rank. This took a lot of thought but eventually I settled on this.

4. Undyne/Undyne the Undying
The green heart gimmick is very interesting but not as fun as the other gamemodes for me. I love the difficulty on Genocide though.

3. Sans
I love hard boss battles and this one delivers that on a skeleton-shaped plate (No idea what I was going for their, I was trying to sound cool).

2. Asgore
Definetly the most built up fight in the game. I for one find this fight very entertaining. Asgore's so innocent though. He has my second favourite song in the game.

1. Muffet
What it lacks in build up, emotion and tension it absolutely makes up for in fun. Too fun for me. The purple heart is so fun.

Kinda wanted a full list but sure Sans is cool.

10. Muffet
She has an interesting mechanic surrounding her fight, but she has basically no character, her fight is so plot irrelevant it is literally skippable, and it drags on for way too long normally.
Dat music and her pet are pretty cool tho.

9. Mad Dummy
Mad Dummy must be Mad that we put him so low. :sans:
Like Muffet, he has no plot relavance, but that's all I can really complain about. I found his fight rather challenging and entertaining, even if reflecting his attack back doesn't mean anything, it's still hecka fun.

8.5. NapstaBlook
He gets above the other 2 because he's a memorable (and somehow interesting) character, but doesn't get his own spot because he isn't important or noteworthy whatsoever.
His lips are mine to smooch

8. Mettaton
Oh my poor robot celebrity how I loathe this decision. While he as a character left a great impact and will always be precious and dear to me, I just can't compare him to what else this game has to offer.
If the Yellow Heart and some of his mechanics were introduced better, he most certainly would have been higher.

7. :toriel:
Alot of what I value in this fight comes from the emotional buildup and circumstances around the fight. She has the best intentions at heart and will even let herself die over us, I walked down that multi-colored hallway ready to bawl like a madman. Precious GoatMamma.

6. :sans:
Normally Sans would have been ranked at the very bottom, but being related to the Oh So Great Papyrus puts him notches above the curve alone. He's fantasically relateable and a very good (lazy) character. My only gripe is that his fight was way too easy, and short. Kinda of a disappointment, but I can understand.
I will forever be dunked on in my nightmares.

5. King FluffyBuns
This guy is way too underappreciated, but I can see why. He doesn't get alot of screen time and his personality won't stick out to many people, but MAN he is tragic, Romeo and Juliet kinda tragic. He's forced into a difficult situation losing his child and his wife to keep his people from giving up hope, and in turn slumps into uncertainty himself being forced to kill (potentially) human children just to keep his people from giving up, but despite all that he carries the burden of a civilization and keeps on burgentrucking for his people, managing to be an incredible role model for Undyne and never surrending however insurmountable the odds seemed. It's beautifully inspiring.
Oh and his fight is SUPER intense.

4. :papyruswacky:
After the funnest, most laid back section of the game, we are greeted by the funniest, coolest dude of the game. His character bombastically explodes during every moment he's on screen. He's a delight and a joy to exist around, and his fight just exemplifies everything about him 10 Trillion times fold.

3. :flowey:
I remember hearing MatPat say UnderTale just needed a Porky-esque character to make this a true EarthBound successor. Man, he really is an idiot, isn't he?
Flowey's in that special camp of characters that are just in a league of their own, so well thought out and executed I can't feasibly comprehend how he came to be. The real reason I put him this high up is just because his fight is so unbelieveably intense and tooth and nail it rockets him up like a SpaceShip. It's simple, but so ridiculously amazing.

2.5. No I'm serious this is a major spoiler

Asriel. Nope, not putting him with Flowey, cause he and Asriel are two totally different characters. Remember that bit I said about Asgore being a tragic Character? Amp that by infinity with Asriel. He's this sweet, innocent kid who one day makes a friend, bonds with them, spends time with them. Then that friend dies, and when Asriel tries burying him in their home village, he gets attacked and killed. AND THEN he comes back as an emotionless, soulless killing machine that is cursed with immortality. He becomes bored with murdering everyone he used to love, and when a new hope makes itself known, he does everything he can to keep all of his friends and family trapped underground because he's just that dissolusioned. Only after being reached out to after so long of being alone and forgotten does he remember compassion and accepts who he now is.
and *sniff*. that hug man. *sniff*.
I don't care how easy his fight was, it was a work of art that will continue to inspire minds for generations to come.

After writing everything I did about the previous entry, kinda having second thoughts but, I'll roll with it.

2. :undyne:
This one really just falls to personal bias. Undyne is the kind of person I want to be. The moment I saw her and got a feel for her personality, I just knew it in my heart there was no topping her. I love ferocity, intensity, and determination, and Undyne has all of that in boatloads. It's inspiring to see her give it her all for her people, holding onto Courage and Hope, never surrending even on the brink of death. I want to be that someday, quirks and all.

1. Annoying Dog
The Annoying Dog is a very bad dog. He is lazier than Sans, poops on my lawn, and never cleans up after himself. This game would be much better without that bad dog, which easily makes him the best boss in UnderTale.

Indeed.

#10 Mad dummy: This fight was actually one of a few that was spoiled for me before I played the game, I watched a random lets play episode and saw this fight! While the mad dummy doesn't have very much importance to back him up, I feel it is one of the most fun battles in the whole game. I love the gimmick of using his attacks against him and that accompanied with his his... err mad dialogue- (yeah nice word choice there PokePig) -makes for a very amusing and fun battle.

#9 Papyrus: yeah, some people would probably put this boss higher on their lists (remember, I'm only talking about the battle) but for some reason I really find this boss-as Chara put it-forgettable. I had seen videos of the Sans fight way before I played the game so the soul mode change wasn't unexpected. Other than this I just find it very easy-too easy in fact... I dunno, it just doesn't stick to me

#8 Toriel: This battle shows you that your actions have consequences. While the fight itself is fairly bland and easy, I put it higher than Papyrus because of the lesson it teaches you on your first run: what Toby intends to happen is that you kill toriel, feel bad and reload, spare her then have Flowey comment on the fact that you killed her in another timeline. This is pretty genius but after your first playthrough, you don't really care about the battle any more as it's too bland and easy.

#7 Undyne (Normal): This battle is pretty cool. I really like the green soul color used in this fight, it is simple yet very effective. This over all a very fun battle with an effective mechanic, while still a little on the easy side. The only thing I will say is that on my first run it took me ages to realise I had to run away on my first playthrough, but that is probably just me being stupid ( I didn't realise blue meant stop until Hotland!)

#6 OMEGA FLOWEY: The first Final Boss on this list, Omega Flowey is a horrifying monster! After beating Asgore you think It's all happy and cheery until this flower appears to ruin your day! Throughout the fight you have to free all 6 souls while trying to just well... die. After saving all 6 souls you realise... you actually have a chance. You fight your way to victory against all odds AND BEAT DA HELL OUT DAT FLOWER... sorry. This fight manages to give you a chance to heal just enough times where you likely won't die but it still requires a large amount of concentration. It closes out the neutral run perfectly...

#5 Mettaton EX: We go from a horrifying abomination of a flower... to a sexy robot celebrity! This fight has, in my opinion, the best soul color. For some reason, I find the top down shooter, yellow soul to be very natural. Using the ratings to spare Mettaton is very creative and offers a variety of different methods to sparing mettaton depending on which act option you find the most effective. It also has a very balanced difficulty and is overall very fun!

#4 Undyne The UNDYING: I take back what I said about Undyne being easy. Through the power of determination, Undyne transformed and will fight for the whole world. This is just the original Undyne battle on steroids with a badass transformation, some epic music and a whole load of determination... This battle makes you really feel like the villain, because you are.

#3 SANS: Your gonna have a bad time. I'm pretty sure you saw this battle coming when you began a genocide run. You killed all his friends and now it's time for him to teach you a lesson. This is easily the hardest battle in a genocide run and it really feels like you are being punished for your sins. What else can I say, I'm pretty sure you all know what this fight is all about...

#2 Asgore: This is just an all out battle to the death and it delivers. This battle just feels so epic, mostly because of the music. As far as you know, this is the final boss. It goes against everything you have been taught but now you have no choice, you have to fight!

#1 ASRIEL DREEMURR: This battle goes so very deep and perfectly represents the true pacifist run. While it is not that hard, the real charm of this battle is the emotion it carries with it. You have come so far and so close to getting your perfect ending and through DETERMINATION, you know you can SAVE everyone, even the one you are fighting. You are striving for your perfect ending and your soul, It refused to die
